Daily Telegraph: Video game sales outpacing movies in UK

Dec 29th 2009 8:34AM (Joystiq)
@ CynicalStrike

games do not really have a high price elasticity of demand because there is no substitute, if ps3 and xbox games increased in price at the same rate, say by £20. although there would be a decrease in the amount of sales, the decrease would not be as rapid as you would believe because what else are they going to buy, a new £700 gaming PC or a Wii? if they want to play mw2 they would pay that extra £20. games are not inelastic but they arnt very elastic

Banned PSN player sues Nintendo and Microsoft

it think what he is actually doing is brilliant, i do not feel any embarrassment to be categorized as a gamer when he is. think about it if he succeeds (although there is a very small chance) people wont be calling him a moron, they will be calling him smart because he has won such substantial amounts of cash. besides, stories like this make me laugh , the sheer audacity of his claims of suffering undue stress and sadness because of the failure of his xbox makes for great reading. if hes got nothing better to do hey why not try

Sony pushes profitability goal back to 2013

Nov 19th 2009 12:34PM (Joystiq)
although its bad news that they expect to make a profit within a few years i think that its great that sony arnt always concerned about profit levels and making money. they could have easily not bothered integrating facebook, vidzone or any other free application and people still would have bought a ps3. also the blu ray player has heavily crippled sony's financial outlook and has no real benefits in regards to the visual image depicted on the t.v, they would have known this yet they still implemented a blu ray player into the ps3.

compared with microsoft i think that sony are a lot more concerned about their consumers. im not trying to start a flame war here but cmon £100/$170 for a 120gb hard drive is an absolute joke

Modern Warfare 2 makes a killing, bundled games rally in UK sales chart

maybe because people knew that mw2 would not live up to the hype and will feel and look the same as mw and have numerous similarities, which it does im afraid to say.

As easy as 1.23 million: Modern Warfare 2 breaks first-day UK sales record

Nov 11th 2009 2:02PM (Joystiq)
the article writer isnt saying anything about the uk public having high pitched voices specifically, it just saying that little kids have high pitched voices in general, this is regardless of where they live.

Konami extremely confident in PES 2010, ships 3 million to Europe

Oct 24th 2009 9:53AM (Joystiq)
the majority of the buying and selling of players happens right at the end of the transfer window which ends basically at the start of the new season. FIFA and to a lesser extent PES want the players bought and sold to be on the correct team, reflecting reality, so they wait until the window closes so they can make those adjustments

Gearbox admits Borderlands PS3 friends list glitch, fix coming 'as quickly as possible' [update]

its good to see that they are taking the time to fix issues for the consumers unlike EA's FIFA 10 who dont give a crap about its consumers
