Traceur: I sign my name because, why not? It also informally connects my various online avatars, without the hassle of going through and manually saying everywhere, Hey! That's me! I mean, if you ever hang out on rpg.net or bay12games.com or story-games,com, you might notice my name and signing habit. Or maybe not. *shrugs*
Acoasta: 26k downloads, not people. I know I've now downloaded each of the game two or three times. I've shared them with my roommate (who then bought their own copy), and I backed up then installers, just in case something happens to the download links. Do you consider sharing in a household to be piracy? Do you consider sharing among friends? The phrase "piracy" (at least for me and those i interact with) has connotations of anonymity and callous disregard, so I have trouble calling communal sharing piracy, even if that's the only nomenclature available.
*shrugs* They made some games, put them up on the internet with no DRM, and let the consumer pay what they want. I don't understand how piracy in this regard is a bad thing. I'm trying, but these guys have made (for themselves and for the charities) $814k. I won't discuss my opinions on piracy, as they're irrelevant, but at this stage in the internet, piracy is a given. They have achieved a massive amount here. This estimate changes nothing. It maybe even reinforces the notion that DRM-less, customer-focused games are the way to go: Be nice to your customers, and they'll be nice to you. That way, the pirates don't have a leg to stand on.
See, I played the game through before knowing they would release this DLC, and I thought it worked out really well. The skipped chapters were DNA memories, sure, but the main story of the game didn't need these large side-quests. It felt more like the Good Parts version of the Princess Bride. "Let's skip this potentially interesting but totally irrelevant side-story to finish up the main quest you've been holding your breath for the resolution of since the first trailer."
I mean, I'm all for Harmonix winning this fight. The game looks great, and I'm all for it, but the Beatles should really lighten up a bit; it's more locked in than both Aerosmith, Metallica, and Van Halen combined. They gotta release that shit for everyone.
I always felt that Metal Gear made the first couple "hide and seek" games, but Splinter Cell was where the first (modern, at least (Thief!)) deadly shadows came to be. Splinter Cell really played with lighting and silenced weaponry, and never once did it have a fixed camera angle.
Baron, you're silly. Sleepwalker is one of my favorite songs. It's really really easy once you figure out the 3/4 time pedal work. Like, stupid easy. The second solo is tricky, but nothing trickier than WGFA.
