Real stars in Wii weather

Dec 21st 2006 10:17AM (Joystiq)
You know, an astronomy channel with which one may play could be really fun.

Ecco, Golden Axe hit Virtual Console

Nov 29th 2006 5:44AM (Joystiq)
These two games were up early in the morning, say around 4:30 a.m. EST, as I checked it around that time. I'm going to buy the Sega collection though, so there's no point in buying them twice.

Regarding people whining about them not being up on Mondays: blow. I defy you to find a web service that is always and 100% up to date. Nintendo is sort of new at this.

I do agree though, that they need to hustle it up and put out a wider offering of VC games. I mean, the amount of companies that have signed on creates a library of literally hundreds of games. They could have a higher quantity of them up, to be sure.

Boston Herald created GTA controversy, politicians followed [update 1]

Nov 29th 2006 5:30AM (Joystiq)
This is absolute silliness. I'm another Boston kid (Malden, but we've got 2 orange line stops, so it's close enough). People are complaining about advertisements that they don't like, but what about the shit that I'm not fond of? All the alcohol ads, the constant friggin' STREAM of iPod ads that were around (eyesores, I tellya), etc. But I don't mind it enough to say that they need to take them down. It's a free country, for the love of god.
Whatever it takes for some people to point the finger at games, I suppose. Everyone feels the need to kick a dead horse.

Flashpoint: Sony Style in Boston

Nov 17th 2006 6:05AM (Joystiq)
KCSega, I hear you. But if I'm right, the store manager might just get the axe for that comment. It's really bad press for Sony to be on record as saying that they don't care about the means, just the ends.

And remember, this is pretty much center city. I can't believe that they didn't cordon off an area inside the mall for these people to stay dry. Way to show love to your customers, Sony.

Touch Generations reach out and touch greatness

Oct 16th 2006 5:51AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Yeah, everyone that thought Nintendo wasn't a company to bank on has it pretty wrong.

Heh, and those are just rough estimates from Touch Generations. Factor in the other bajillion selling titles, and what do you have............?

Is the Wii too much, too late?

What's the issue with the pricing? First I see them get knocked for making a profit on the system, and now I see them getting knocked for a price. They said, right off the bat, what the system would cost in yen, and I'm pretty sure that it translated to just above $200. When you factor in shipping and distribution in a country as large as the US, you can see where the rest comes from.

I, for one, planned for the system to have a $250 price tag. Yes, it forced me to make a few choices about my addiction this season (in which we need no reminder that there're "primo" "goods" being put out on the "streets), but hey, you can't always get what you want. That's what we call life.

Now, you can certainly argue that they're making a profit, but, and I can't stress this question enough, WHAT THE HELL DO PEOPLE THINK BUSINESS IS ABOUT? Nothing further is needed for that bloody stupid argument about profit.

It's still the cheapest system out there, and it's got innovative controls. That, for me, makes it the first buy this season. And yes, I am saving for a 360 and a PS3. White Knight sold me on a $600 machine. Christ. It certainly doesn't mean that my deicsion is what everyone else should go by, but for the sake of all things holy and pure, stop knocking them for making money. It makes you look like a whining 5 year old.

The interactive Wii cost calculator [update 2]

Sep 22nd 2006 5:45AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Heh, thank the powers that be for my fiancee liking this system so much that she's buying the second wiimote. And I've never been happier for something coming out a week after my birthday.

Now, if only the DS offering this season wasn't so very robust, all of my (Wii) problems wouldn't exist. Oh, Trauma Centre, how I long for your embrace....

USA Today checks out next-gen systems

Sep 6th 2006 5:44AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
As much as I hate to say it (over and over again) it's the same as it ever was. I've purchased every Nintendo system out there, save one (I'm looking at you, Virtual Boy), and thoroughly enjoy all of them. They're my favorite console developer. I don't agree with the fact that they have a stigma to shake with regards to being a "kid's" system.

But you can't deny that there is a stigma to shake off. At this point, don't we all think that it's time to stop complaining about how it's treated by the media and other first party developers? The line up of games will (hopefully) show the media community that it's not all oriented towards children. Conversely, it's something that everyone can pick up and play. The fact that it's friendly towards children as well as adults should eventually show itself to the media at large, and if sales go as Nintendo (and I, frankly) hope, then this "Kidtendo" thing should go away on it's own.

Third-party games without online support until 2007

Aug 25th 2006 1:39PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Let's not forget, IGN didn't name names here. This probably isn't a valid rumor.

All this article serves to do is whip fanboys and opponents into a fervor. IGN scores stupid points again.

DS Lite protector

Aug 23rd 2006 5:43AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
My fiancee actually has one of these. She has her reciept somewhere, so I'll post the website later on today when I get home from work.

It's not something I'd put in my pocket, but it's definitely a functional protector. The only issue that I've seen thus far with it is that it doesn't really "fit" around the bottom section of the Lite around the GBA cart slot. You probably have to move the little strip above the slot a little out of the way, or sort of pull it up to put a GBA game in. I'd recommend it, but only if it were around $15 or so.

Now, the other thing I was thinking about is the leather protector that I have for our GBA's at home. Pelican made them, and they fit very well. Since the Lite is a more squared product in terms of physical shape, I'm wondering if they have anything planned along the same lines, because I'd pick that up in a heartbeat. Leather (pleather, really), padded lightly along the inside. Easy sliding in and out of pockets, and a small internal metal frame for a firm, snug fit.

If it were me, I'd have put that thing on the shelf day one, but hey, it's not me.
