Rez's trance vibrator, not sexual?

Jul 26th 2006 6:38PM (Joystiq)
I was always under the impression that the trance vibrator was created to give people in japan the "full experience". If anyone has played the game, they will know that the fun factor of the game is increased tenfold when you have a good audio system or at least speakers that are able to create good bass.

Japan's cities are extremely crowded and so if anyone living there used a loud audio system it would no doubt anger a lot of neighbors. The trance vibrator, I thought, was created to be placed in a pocket of the player to allow them to feel the beat of the music without waking up everyone nearby.

Plus, if it was for sexual purposes, I doubt he would approve a large square brick.

Joystiq Poll: Blu-ray, yay or nay?

Jun 16th 2006 9:22AM (Joystiq)
It's a tricky poll. I don't think Sony should have gone with the blu-ray yet. It's a completely new technology and if anything, they should have released it with the PS4 once they have figured out the kinks and have driven down the price a little bit. I don't think jamming it down the throat of consumers is the right way to go.

The extra space itself may also screw them over. The only reason the PS2 was so successful was because of the third party support. From what I've seen, the Wii and Xbox 360 had the right idea and went with DVD (or DVD-esque) formats. I think companies will flock to either of them because they are cheaper and (supposedly) easier to code for. I doubt companies will be very happy at having to pay for extra disc space which will not be used.

And it is not like the extra disc space will be used for anything actually useful. Companies that do use the full disc will just create better looking or longer cutscenes, or devote the space to something else unecessary. I doubt we'll get more gameplay out of it.

Maybe it's just me, but "Interactive Entertainment" sounds utterly pretentious.
