Have you met Marcus 'PSP' Rivers?

Jul 5th 2010 4:45PM (Joystiq)
Sony PR came up with the "Step up your game" slogan first.

Now then, now that you have this awesome meme inducing slogan, there are several considerations:

Who do you get as a spokesperson?
Which audience or demographic do you target?
How does the spokesperson relate to this audience?

Obviously, you use an 'urban styled' male to pitch your slogan. Preferably reinforce the innate mac-daddy abilities of certain demographics while tapping into the current fascination with specific urban mindsets.

The spokesperson should be able to reliably speak as if he's hip. Oh yeah and the spokesperson should be a kid. That way other kids can be as cool as him if they buy a PSP too.

"Have you lost your gatdamn mind?!" is also a good answer.

Cross-game party chat coming to PS3 (with strings attached) [Update]

Jun 15th 2010 9:09PM (Joystiq)
I like how cross game chat can only be initiated by a psn+ subscriber. It's going to be soooo totally frustrating not to have that ability as a regular psn user so of course I'm going to have subscribe.

I wonder if I can prepay for 5 years at a time. That way I can lock in the savings and be grandfathered into any additional fees/services that might pop up between then and now. Like backwards compatibility or free ps2 cloud rental.

5 dollars a month is juuuuuuust right. That way having to pay for base services and innovations makes my butthurtedness just a tad less butthurt, with a gentle kiss of baby powder.

It would be absurd to expect a 10, 15 or $20 a month fee for a gaming service/subscription/newell anytime in the near future wouldn't it?

THANK GOD FOR PSN+!

Twenty natively 3D PS3 titles releasing by March 2011

Jun 15th 2010 3:51PM (Joystiq)
Some of you guys don't understand. Consumer adoption of 3D precedes the much desired 3D-arms race. The 3D that you want is the 3D that early adopters want. We're just not afraid to pay to play.

Now if you want to opt out for now that's entirely fine. Doing so however, means that you will forever miss the opportunity to interact first hand with paradigm shifting technology (3d computing interfaces for instance).

You will miss the joy and wonderment of the newest technological advances in visualizing data through such wondrous and varied mediums such as art, TV, movies, games, music and more!

You will also miss out on ruining your eyes and dignity while they dial in these technologies. But isn't that a small price to pay for the future now?

Even though the cost to play is less than $1000 in many instances, people will find any numb$r of reasons not to jump in.

That makes the future very sad. In fact your future self will no doubt find your past self to be lacking.

Lacking inde3D.
