Xbox 360 slim shipping today for $299; 250GB HDD, built-in Wi-Fi
Jun 14th 2010 3:30PM (Joystiq)For reference we have his and her's PS3's due to co-op insensitivity from today's developer's.
Even that's shot due to other OS issues. Offline co-op it is! PSN it ain't :(
Kinda liberating actually. I'm tired of getting nagged about system updates though.
Pandora handheld now shipping: first mass-produced unit unboxed, world somehow survives
May 23rd 2010 3:54PM (Engadget)As a plus I don't need to pay someone else the privilege of signing away the next two years so that I can pay yet again for the functionality that I should have had in the beginning. I don't need to sign up for a data plan, pay for text messaging (Imagine going to a restuarant and having to pay for salt as well as pepper), early termination fees etc.
I just need a phone with long battery life, sufficient durability and bluetooth. I can use the wifi on campus. Since the Pandora has a repurposed 800X480 archos screen my phone can look like more of a phone when I'm using it.
It fits my budget because it does more (look at it's functionality), what it does do, it does better (look at its form factor and chipsets), finally its plain cheaper(no $678 cost if you buy it without a 2 year contract and no $2500-3000 cost if you DO!).
But yeah. Go ahead and continue to hate. Haters gonna hate anyway.

This is great news for developers as Sony is going to ease up on some of the access restrictions in devtools for the PS3.
I expect to hear interesting news about scaling and refresh rates at E3.

May 12th 2010 5:36PM (Joystiq)Review: Lost Planet 2
May 12th 2010 4:30PM (Joystiq)Instead of "crappy review", we could say "typical 'Stiq-ing". Instead of rating the Stiq-ing on a point scale we could use an hour based one. As in the hours played before writing the review. So for this Stiq-ing I give it about a 2.5 or so.
I give Kotaku a 4.5 because although the author played through it "nearly one and a half times" on two different consoles no less (AND WITH COOP) the online portion wasn't given much more thought than what one attributes to an after thought.
That being said, I at least get the impression that he COMPLETED THE GAME at least ONCE.
[snip/quote]
I ended up playing through Lost Planet 2 nearly one and a half times. First playing through more than a third of the game with my son cooperatively using final, but not retail code, on the Xbox 360. Then finishing the campaign completely on the PlayStation 3 on my own. It's a fun game, but it's also a frustrating one. The minor issues taken alone don't seem so bad, but in a few chapters they manage to pile up in such away as to nearly destroy the experience. That's unfortunate, because plenty of what makes Lost Planet 2 so much fun, the grappling and gunning, the vital suits, can't be found in very many shooters. [ end snip/quote]
Reviews. Serious business.
Sony slapped with two more class-action suits over Other OS removal
May 11th 2010 5:12PM (Joystiq)Imagine that you bought a sportscar car and the manufacturer came to your house and without asking installed heated seats, or whatever thing that would personally make the car more awesome to you. Would you mind?
Now what if they installed heated seats, in car telephony but REMOVED your radio with the free satellite service and HD radio features that helped you pull the trigger on that brand new top of the line sportscar?
Wait. I know the answer. 'Well if you needed the radio for Audio Purposes you should have just bought a dedicated radio. It probably would have saved you money anyway. Besides, true car drivers use their cars for driving. Not *finger quotes* audio purposes. Get a bicycle and an ipod if you can't deal with the mere loss of a radio. Leave car drivin' to car drivers and leave those other secondary and tertiary comforts for the car posers.'
