Crytek boss: free game demos 'prohibitively expensive'

Apr 17th 2010 10:17AM (Joystiq)
Hahaha

Activision has Kotick, EA has pre-order bullshit. Pick your poison. Good god these assholes are greedy.

I will enjoy renting Crysis 2 and finishing it in 6 hours.

Xbox 360 USB data storage announced, coming April 6

Oh well at least it's a step in the right direction.

PoP: The Forgotten Sands getting new mode with GameStop pre-orders

Mar 25th 2010 10:38AM (Joystiq)
The games industry operated just fine for decades with used game sales. This is just a convenient scape goat.

Pre-order incentives can blow me. We all know that retailer exclusive content is pure garbage anyways. Pre-order shenanigans / DLC are really out of hand this generation. Seems there are no bounds to publisher greed.

I'll be renting this one. If that.

EA expecting two million subscribers for Star Wars: The Old Republic

Mar 19th 2010 10:32AM (Joystiq)
This the first MMO I've been excited for.

I think this game has a good shot at grabbing a lot of first time MMO players as well as some bored WOW players.

Pachter: Natal more than $50 after all, DSi XL won't sell

Feb 26th 2010 9:52AM (Joystiq)
I thought the whole point of stripping the processors out of the camera were to get Natal in the $50 price range.

If MS is betting on artificially raising the price of Natal just to try and throttle the potential Arc/Wand customers then they have lost my dollars.

DSi XL releasing March 28 for $190 in North America

Wow I bought the original DS for less six years ago...

Ubisoft explains Assassin's Creed 2 PC DRM restrictions

Feb 19th 2010 2:09PM (Joystiq)
Shame that Ubisoft is crippling the definitive version of an amazing game.

Instead of investing all this time and money into DRM and then the servers to host the DRM, they should throw it up on Steam with a pre-order deal for like $24.99.

Riccitiello talks 'Project Ten Dollar' and digital distribution

Feb 10th 2010 10:57AM (Joystiq)
It's hard to believe that suckers would go for a free piece of throwaway content which hinders the ability to trade or sell the game. Also infuriating is the concept of digital game items such as armor or weapons have real world monetary value.

But judging by the first concept I can see where this is going.

The Beatles: Rock Band does 1.7M as music games continue slide

Jan 18th 2010 1:00PM (Joystiq)
I think it always asking a lot to assume that the target Beatles demographic would not only have a current gen console but also have the space and know how to connect a gaggle of plastic instruments to it.

Couple that with Activision pooping out three Guitar Heroes a month and you have a genre that is played out with the core audience and asking too much of the potential Beatles fanbase.

Jason Sudekis trumps Brutal Legend with Focus Effect 4

Jun 10th 2009 10:38AM (Joystiq)
This and the other bit on Fallon were some of the first times I've seen mainstream video game humor that were actually funny.

"First game with penetration" cracked me up big time.
