Nintendo didn't make the controller to compensate. They didn't develop the Wii and go "OH NOEZ MY MHZ R TEH STOELD" . They intended to make something different (like the DS). Your thinking is they tried to 'make up' for what they lacked. Nintendo could have easily made a 360/PS3 competing console. They could have spent all their money and R&D doing exactly what MS and Sony did ... OR they could try something else. They made the controller first ... instead of MHZ and GPUs and Teraflops, they wanted something fun to play, something new. Then they built the system. Nintendo also likes to make money ("but MS will START making money in the Spring you say" - yeah, at $75 per console from a $400 system)... Nintendo is able to meet (or at least try to as much as they can) the needs of the public by supplying a less expensive system that can be made NOW, with no worries of production compared to the PS3s high needs.
So stop the thinking that they COULDN'T and reconsider that they COULD do something different and took a gamble at it instead of being safe and doing what everyone else is doing.
Yes, "rockintom99" , that is the IN thing now. A million people read their comic. They go to the site now because they hate it, yet they read it every new post only to say it's not funny.
That's how this world works, when you're on top, people go out of their way to knock them. If PA comics showed up in "stan's crappy videogame webcomics" everyone would love them.
People nominate a lot of crappy comics (like those damn HL2 comics of boredom) and then slam the top comic.
I don't find ALL PA comics funny, but they are more consistent than most of the stuff I see.
they still plan on releasing a patch to make what some could consider a "0.5" expansion. It's basically the patch that 'everyone else' was going to get who didn't get the expansion. Honor system changes, talent changes, and other random stuff that non-expanders would have gotten to stay with the game.
"You can get a desktop for under $500 if you know where to look. iMacs start at $1000"
Let's just place these apples beside these oranges, no one will notice.
Oh wait, they ARE different. Most 'entry level' PCs also have no monitor or video card, but an integrated graphics chip. Oh wait, what's this? Apple makes one of those too? Pray tell, what is it? A Mac Mini? and they cost $500? say it aint so!
like seriously. Pack in what an iMac has and you'll find roughly the same PC for roughly the same price. And don't bring your "new egg" do-it-yourself bullshit here, since most consumers dont do that.
"They throw in these extras so that they can charge you more"
I didn't see a price hike of the PS3 since this announcement. So how are they charging me more? Do I have to buy a program? I dunno, do you have to buy a game?
No one is making you buy a PS3, and if you want a PS3, no one is making you buy it on release day, and if you do buy it on release day, no one is making you buy the top end system.
Wait a year or so TRUTH, you'll be able to play your $200 basic 360. Until then, suck it up princess, go buy a PS2 that plays music, movies and games for $100 and you can play hundreds of games right now.
Why do people quote numbers? Is it too hard to quote the poster's name? Don't people understand that these numbers change because of the order of when something is posted is changed by people confirming their posts?
It bugs me when people do this because 80% of the time they respond to the wrong post when they reply to the number.
you pay for bandwidth? Like seriously, most connections are a flat rate $x/month ... sometimes people like to just say crap.
And you're not giving up CPU cycles either, this is something that would probably run when you're not playing ... this likens to 'SETI at Home' that people run on their Macs ... I can't see why this would be any different.
I'm not buying a PS3, but jeeze people, stop the hate train, if Nintendo did this you'd all be "yay! Nintendo can have my babies!" .... If a Powermac G4 from 5 years ago can help with space exploration, then I'm sure a much more powerful unit can do this.
