What's your Hue IQ?

Scored a 3, and all 3 that I got wrong were grouped together.

Personally, I used the poor viewing angles on my laptop to help out.

Pulitzer Prize winning author says GTA IV ain't art

Jul 1st 2008 8:36AM (Joystiq)
To whomever wrote the title for the post: Way to sell your soul for clicks, you money-grubbing SOB.

As others pointed out, the article (which was very well written), specifically considers GTA IV art, he just doesn't think it deserves some of the favorable comparison it receives in comparison to other works that share the motif.

NINJA GAIDEN 2 presents: Zero Punctuation's MGS4 review

The "4" at the end of Call of Duty didn't seem to prevent people from enjoying it without having played the prior three? Super Mario Brothers "3" similarly had no issues for those who skipped 1 and 2.

Your point that appreciation of the game is hindered by lack of experience with the prior games is valid, and shared by most of the internet. But, your claim that the "4" is the indicator which would tip off the end user is a little off base.

ESA calls out GamePolitics for unfair coverage [update]

Jun 3rd 2008 5:00PM (Joystiq)
I'm sorry, at what point did I apologize for his agreement? I was just countering your blatant misstatement that "he DID make the statement". He did not make the statement. It is deceitful of GamePolitics to attribute the quote, and use quotation marks, in regards to the remark and the man. Do you have ADD? Short term memory loss? Did you forget what you said, which in turn, other people were responding to?

ESA calls out GamePolitics for unfair coverage [update]

Jun 3rd 2008 1:45PM (Joystiq)
Gov. Perry never made the remark; a pastor made the remark at an event the governor was attending, and later, the governor said he couldn't disagree with any part of the sermon. GamePolitics characterization of Christian comments toward non-Christians and Hell as "divisive" and "worth questioning" implies to me that there is another agenda beyond the stated one. Since when is it news that Christians think non-Christians are going to Hell?

Best Buy if I'm impatient, random internet retailer with the best price through Amazon if I can stand waiting.

Gamestop as an absolute last resort.

Activision CEO introduces Guitar Hero World Tour

May 29th 2008 9:51AM (Joystiq)
@mike:
I had never heard of the Avant Browser before, so I went to see what the dealio was. For the heck of it, I decided to run it past Acid3. Failed 88 tests out of the 100. Ran it past Acid2. Not pretty... not pretty at all.

If your browser of choice chooses to be so incredibly standards non-compliant, I don't see how you can expect a website to program for it, especially when so much effort would be required for a userbase so small.

I'm not going to say you should get Firefox, but I will say: Get a better browser.

Activision CEO introduces Guitar Hero World Tour

May 28th 2008 6:14PM (Joystiq)
Bobby: "...which is the first time you'll have multiple instruments: drums, mic, a bass, different guitar..."
Kara: "Called Rock Band, I think?"
Bobby: "We're calling it Guitar Hero: World Tour"

Listening to that, I couldn't help but think "first time"? Really? And then Kara called him out on it, which made me happy.

On the video: Disappointing not to see how they're displaying the bass drum beats, but the 5 colors do match the 5 pads, so so much for the theory that the elevated pads were interchangeable (hit either, same effect). Also, using standard 5-button GHIII controllers, so are the extra buttons seen in the previous commercial going to be "optional" buttons like Rock Band's high frets?

The Joystiq Free Game Club: Sonny

May 19th 2008 5:29PM (Joystiq)
My biggest disappointment with this game, after playing all the way through with one class, is that on restarting, the skill tree was the same. Even when picking the same class as your allies in the bonus area, they have access to skills that you could never get to. Otherwise, a great deal of fun, albeit odd.
