Leaked Halo 3 Alpha media roundup [update 1]

Jan 16th 2007 5:15PM (Joystiq)
That stuff clearly should never have been posted anyway. I hope the jerk who leaked it gets banned from the alpha and upcomming beta.

Best Buy selling hoarded PS3s tomorrow morning

Dec 30th 2006 8:13PM (Joystiq)
Or you could have bought one at any of the retailers that have had them in stock all week... Is anyone really going to come out and wait for hourse to buy a system that you can probably get just walking into a Target or gaming store any time you want?

Quarter gobblers are broken on XBLA [update 2]

Dec 30th 2006 5:06PM (Joystiq)
Nothing's broken. But, since some people think it is, I have the perfect solution for you.

The first step, is get a jar. I prefer a good old fashioned glass one.
Then, everytime you virtually put a quarter in the game, you deposit a quarter in the jar. Once the quarter goes in the jar, you can't take it back out.

After a while of playing all your favorite coin-op games and filling your jar, take it to one of those nifty coin cointing machines, like the ones they have at many supermarkets, and instead of walking back out with cash, donate the money to a local charity. Everyone wins! People who want to pay per play can do so and help charity at the same time. The fun of throwing quarters at games is returned to you once again, only IF you choose to.

400-800 Microsoft points is a good investment to bring those arcade classics home. Pay-per-play is a feature I would rather leave at the old arcades.

Those aren't my PS3's unless they are giving them away for free.

Photo: Seven PS3s NOT being sold

Dec 28th 2006 9:18AM (Joystiq)
The Saturday before Christmas, at about 9 o'clock at night, I walk into a Toys 'R Us in Connecticut looking for a DS Lite. As I'm looking through the gaming section, this guy asks if they had any PS3's. One of the workers goes in the back, looks around, and says we have a 20 and a 60. The eager shopper says "Gimme both" clearly not realizing that these aren't selling for huge profits on ebay anymore. I couldn't believe that it was easier to get a PS3 than a DS Lite days before Christmas. Clearly, this can't be a good thing for Sony.

#33, what good is a civil suit against someone who doesn't have any money?

Let's not call him a Connecticut man, we're not that stupid.

He's from Massachusetts and just went to Connecticut to try to make some money.

PS3, Wii sell out at launch

Nov 20th 2006 4:47PM (Joystiq)
B.S. The Nintendo World Store in NYC closed its doors before selling out of Wii's, and I was able to buy one walking into Toys R' Us in Times Square minutes before closing time.

Not everywhere sold out on day one. Nintendo even said they wouldn't sell out on the first day at their world store, if I recall correctly.

We hear you, no more Wii at the inn

Nov 20th 2006 12:14PM (Joystiq)
I didn't feel like waiting in line in the cold, so I figured I'd pick one up on Sunday somewhere. Of course somewhere turned into nowhere in Connecticut, so the wife and I hopped on a train to NYC and hit the Nintendo World Store. They said they had plenty of Wii's, but only 6 registers, and not enough time to let in any new customers. :( So we went to the launch store, Toys R' US in Times Square. They said they ran out of wrist bands, so no more wii's. :(

So I took the wife to ESPNZone for some dinner and some football. (My wife is awesome) we finished around 6:30PM, half-an-hour before Toys R' Us was closing. We decided to try our luck one more time since we were already in Times Square. After getting past the door, we saw the gaming section roped off, then they let a few people in at a time. Or excite grew as we moved our way up to the roped off area. No one was saying what the wait was for, but we saw lots of brand new Wii's passing us by. We squirrmed our way in, past the bins of nunchucks and wiimotes and games, picked up an extra or each controller and Zelda: TP, and checked out with all that and a brand new Wii. :) Another train ride back to Connecticut and the wife and I were playing wii sports until we crashed for the night. Great system and lots of fun. I just need my component cables and I'll be all set.

Making your Xbox 360 HD DVD drive PC-compatible

Nov 13th 2006 2:46PM (Joystiq)
This is just a driver file so the drive is can be read by the computer. The 4 million lines of code you heard was to actually play HD DVD movies. Drivers and software are very, very different and shouldn't be confused.
