"PlayStation 3 will be the ONLY console you can play Final Fantasy XIV, when it launches in 2010" he didn't use the word "exclusive".
Which should still hold true, as 360 will most probably be released at a later date. Welcome to corporate speak.

This would net them more cash imo, not to mention the people without the launch PS3's that have been craving backwards compatibility will be pleased and it will probably help push some new PS3's off the shelf for people still on the fence about buying one. Win win situation.
