Encrypted Text: Smoke bomb vs. joke bomb
Apr 29th 2010 2:06PM (WoW)I agree totally. I had some PVP fun back in vanilla and BC, but I'm pretty much a strict PVE rogue these days. The new changes are pretty much a high degree of suck, apart from being able to SnD off of dead targets.
@Banzai
I'm not sure how to word this as to not sound too offensive, but... no. PVE rogues shouldn't be Recuperating, as the rogue is there to do damage and the healer is there to heal. Outside of trash, target switching is really uncommon and most rogues already work their rotations around it for those fights. Combat readiness is equally useless, as we shouldn't be pulling aggro, and we already have tools that both prevent it and how to drop it if we do get it. As for Smoke Bomb, I don't think Blizzard will design encounters around it. Good tanks should already know how to LoS pull/corner pull/pillar dance.
I really would have liked to get Focused Attacks from the Severed Essences that the ICC Valkyrs spawn. Forced targeting for 30 seconds is a price I can pay for extra melee haste. Of course if players got it they'd have to remove the stun, but it would have been nice to get a true PVE ability.
Original Left 4 Dead won't be (left for dead, that is)
Jun 12th 2009 8:46PM (Joystiq)What's with all the hate? Valve has a history of releasing fine products. I've logged really more hours than I care to count on the original L4D, and I'm actually thrilled that they're releasing a sequel with improved graphics, gameplay, and story. For those all crying about the 'loss' of $50 or $60, how many hours did you clock on L4D? On top of that, how many other games did you buy for the same price and maybe play through once?
If you take the formula of:
enjoyment * (price / hours played) = fun factor
How bad was L4D?
If you sink a similar amount of hours into L4D2, is it a similar number?
I get the feeling here that the complainers are complaining simply because they expect more and more for free. Just because Valve has released a significant amount of free content for TF2 does not mean that they are a charity, or that they should release a similar amount of content for L4D for free. The changes are significant, there is an actual story thread now, we have new weapons, an expanded dimension of melee combat, and more interactive zombie hitmaps. This, in my mind, makes the game well worth buying again.
I'm certain that my comment will be modded to oblivion, but I have greatly enjoyed L4D, and I'm pretty sure that my investment in Valve for L4D2 will pay dividends in entertainment.

Apr 29th 2009 7:15AM (Autoblog)Say the GM ICE engine/transmission costs $10000 dollars. Lasts 2500 fill up cycles. Costs about $3.50 to give you 40 miles.
So 40 miles costs you $3.50 for gas
+ 10000/2500 = $4 for ICE life cycle consumption
So 40 miles cost you $7.50, not just the $3.50 gas charge.
The engine and transmission are massive consumable(don't forget preventative maintenance) costs that ICE proponents fail to take into account.
U C wut I did thar?

Jan 11th 2008 9:06AM (Engadget)Taking a PVE guild to the expansion
Oct 17th 2006 9:13AM (WoW)KoD fully plans on finishing all existing content before moving into the new raid content in the expansion, and we're what you might call a mid-endgame guild. We may not farm these instances as heavily as before, but we at least want to experience all that content that we haven't seen yet.
In the end though, you might lose some people when the expansion hits, but if your guild has any connectedness beyond just the desire for 'phat epix', it should hold together I think.
