12 Days of Joyswag: Enslaved Collector's Edition resin statue and game

Dec 15th 2010 8:42AM (Joystiq)
I bought is on release date because I loved the conceit of a game based on Odyssey to the West, and because preview descriptions made it sound like something I would enjoy. (I did.)

Cut the Rope wraps up a million sales

@Mach2 I had the titles confused in my mind for a moment... I was thinking "wait, people paid for that?... well, they DO pay for fart apps..."

PSA: Alan Wake prequel 'Bright Falls' available now

Apr 26th 2010 8:19AM (Joystiq)
If you haven't watched the show, you owe it to yourself to do so, at least the first season.

The tonal similarities are such that Bright Falls almost feels like a parody at first; I keep expecting the joke to come. There are a few shots (like the opening, or the ceiling fan close-up) that are direct homage. It finds its own voice more when it turns towards overt suspense/horror.

A classic: I was in a play that was about to start, and I hadn't learned any of the lines.

SXSW 2009: EA Dead Space - A Deep Media Case Study

If they consider the comic book and movie just marketing for the game, I'd say they still don't get it. Both were enjoyable but could have been better; they could have been moneymakers in their own right with a little more effort. Look to the .hack franchise for inspiration; the books and a couple of the anime were better than the games.
