24 in 1994: the "lost pilot"

Nov 11th 2007 2:32AM (Engadget)
Thing is, the M3904 wasn't even out in 1994. Hell, I'm not even sure the M2616 was at that point. I think in 1994, Nortel was just integrating the Meridian systems into their line-up.

Safe sex UCONN video game up for bids

Sep 25th 2006 9:03AM (Joystiq)

What does hockey and sword fighting have to do with sex? This is a bad place to advertise any to do with sex, since no one here will ever have it.
---

No, it's that you would never do those activities without some sort of protection because it's too dangerous. It's an analogy that you should never have sex without protection either because it's too dangerous. They're equating physical harm with the harm that may come to you from unprotected sex.

Mini USB gamepad for those with small hands

Sep 7th 2006 11:35AM (Joystiq)
@32_Footsteps:

I am 6'3" and, after playing video games on consoles and computers for most of my life, have severe joint problems.

Frankly, the original XBox controller was the most comfortable for me (though the XBox 360 controller comes in a close second). My hands get all numb or cramped up playing with these controllers made for smaller-handed children (or Japanese people). The most uncomfortable for me is the PS2 controller. Probabaly why I don't play my PS2 much, sadly.

AMD and ATI to pitch merger to shareholders on Monday?

OMG saboola, I almost pissed my pants laughing. ^__^;;

I could care less if AMD and ATI merge... I can't stand either of them.

France legislature passes "iTunes law"

Jul 1st 2006 9:50AM (Engadget)
>> Or just right-click, "Convert to MP3"

Except if the file is one you bought from iTunes (*.m4p or whatever the other format is) you get the message:

"%songname could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats."

Great way to convert from *.wmv or something but it won't work for files that have been locked down with DRM.

Kutaragi: PlayStation 3 is "too cheap"

May 17th 2006 4:07PM (Joystiq)
I remember this from an article in Wired:

"At $150 each, PS2 and Xbox are already cheap ways to kill two home-entertainment must-haves with one stone. But Allard recoils at the very suggestion. He looks like he's about to curse, but then composes himself enough to answer my query. "If there's a serious gamer out there who doesn't get an Xbox console because a mom who wants to watch DVDs grabbed the last one, then we've failed," he says. "

(The article is here: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/13.06/xbox.html?pg=1&topic=xbox&topic_set= )

If Sony is viewing this as a cheap Blu-Ray player instead of a video game console then Sony may have a problem. I think they viewed the PSP as a UMD player instead of a portable game system. It just seems like a lot of this is going to put-off the casual players.

ATI sued for misleading HDCP claims

May 8th 2006 3:53PM (Engadget)
This sounds exactly like what happened awhile back when Palm (I believe) was telling people that their units could produce a lot more colours simultaneously than they actually could. Same type of case I assume... and I don't remember them getting off scott-free either.

Twilight Princess now Wiimote-controlled

May 8th 2006 11:15AM (Joystiq)
How can anyone get excited about TLoZ after that horrendous cel-shaded one? That game killed TLoZ for me.
