Joystiq quick visit: Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops
Aug 24th 2006 4:03AM (Joystiq)When the Nintendo 64 came out it had one analog stick. That is true. Number of analog sticks present on other systems; 0. If everyone had one leg they certainly wouldn't complain about not having two, in the same way that I hardly complain about not having a third arm.
Building a "Playstation Portable" with ports of games, such as Grand Theft Auto, which DO use two analog sticks, and then adapting it to work with one, leaves something to be desired.
Though I will concede that once that DualShock came out I did have a slight case of... analog envy.

Aug 21st 2006 4:48PM (Joystiq)Please do not steal a copy of Snakes on a Plane. The film is fantastic and, frankly, they deserve every penny they can get, in my opinion. It's your decision and I don't wish to moralize but I can assure you, from my own viewpoint, it is worth the money.
GameStop fails to meet profit forecasts
Aug 17th 2006 7:43PM (Joystiq)This is quite true. Every game on that floor is empty and, as such, there's a copy of the game sitting on the shelf. Often games are opened and just rewrapped later.
And, yeah, I've seen my boss take back used games that were in such good shape he labelled them new and rewrapped them.
GameStop fails to meet profit forecasts
Aug 17th 2006 6:23PM (Joystiq)We had a new boss transfer in direct from corporate. He established that we needed not only X reservations and Y subscriptions (we were used to that dribble) but Z used sales and, get this, Q% of our used game trade ins had to be refurbed. Basically we weren't charging enough in fees on the games people trade in so, bam, we had to start doing it more often or we'd get written up, even if it wasn't necessary.
The final straw was when we got in a big box of New Super Mario Brothers, almost all of which were reserved, and he just started selling to whoever. His logic was that they wouldn't all come in to pick up their game so it was okay if we sold them. Sure enough it came back to bite us in the ass.
They deserve some money troubles. Karma and all that.
