Encrypted Text: Why the 3.0.9 Rogue changes were necessary
Feb 11th 2009 12:01PM (WoW)I know. Trolls will come and say "subtlol", "lolstep" and such deviations, but forgetting a spec that actually allows us to feel like we are playing a rogue is nothing but a joke on everyone who has wanted to use the class for something more than being a leathered warrior. Yes, it's an overtly simplistic analysis, but my discomfort with the way Subt has been treated since WotLK is beyond that.
inb4 viable spec posts.

Oct 21st 2008 6:41PM (WoW)Implying the existance of a bait is denying its point, I think. You may or may not agree on this one, though, but I do think it should be adressed at some point. More often than not I've been silenced for not being on the "right" side of the discussion, and it's not that I really care about not having support, but what I do intend here, because of my high hopes on my WoW peers, is to have an open talk not about the wrong side, but about how everyone here, as part of a community, can create certain acceptance without agreeing. In the end, what defines people is humanity, and part of that is sexuality. I completely agree with you on the "warm fuzzy feeling" thing, and it's because of that (or that's what I like to think) that there's a chance for all of us not to agree, but to talk things through, from both sides (if there are only two).
15 Minutes of Fame: Proudmoore guild plays out GLBT pride
Oct 21st 2008 5:44PM (WoW)I've been reading the discussion between Amaxe and Agnoster, and I think I'm with Amaxe on this one. It stroke me as odd, how hard the Nazi remark was taken. I'm pretty sure the intention wasn't to compare both gays and nazis, but to put a twist on what would be acceptable to ones and others. So Amaxe said intially that the column was a mistake, not that gay people is wrong, and went on to say that it would be fairly obvious that someone disagreeing with the point of view expressed in the post would probably be taken with anger, with intolerance. Now, it's easy to think that expressing distaste against GLBT is indeed an intolerant view, and it probably is for most people. But then again, these people, the ones who express said intolerance, are not being accepted on their opinions. I think there's a distance between intolerance, hate and plain disagreeing, so I tend to assume, with good faith in people, that those who oppose the article or the subject don't hate (therefore, would not agree upon extremist views), but are rather aware that such lifestyle is not something they would approve for the people that surround them.
So when Amaxe said the nazi remark, he was talking about being offended, which is exactly what happened with Agnoster (and I understand that too, seeing how terrible the Nazi were and how even putting them on a same category with other groups that have nothing in common is just wrong), but I don't think that's the real issue. Thing is, I think, tolerance (or acceptance, as we should hope), is a two-way street. It's not about attacking, nor about not neing offended. It's about understanding that different points of view will in the end clash and not everyone will approve of them. Some people wish such topics would be left outside their range of view, and who's to blame them if, in the end, it produces intolerance and bigotry (from whatever side it's aimed), but then again, this is something to accept as well. So hey, you can disagree with someone and be ok with it. There's no need to force them into retracting their own words when they were said in a polite and unhateful manner (which, I know, is a matter of reception, not something that we can verify right away).
Could there be such a thing as life without the Lich King?
Oct 11th 2008 2:45PM (WoW)However, what I would like to see after such a thing is real warfare between factions, not just bgs and such, but huge war events and whatnot.
But I'm pretty sure Blizz will find a way to put in a lot more lore in new releases!
