Universal announces impending HD DVD price drop
Jun 15th 2006 3:29PM (Engadget)I mean, with VHS and Beta-Max, VHS beat it to the market by years... Plus, this was the first time that home playback of movies was available - ever. And VHS lasted about 20 years, we're only maybe 5 years into the popularity of DVDs, and what? We have more stuff?
Please, people, it's just too much hype, only a fraction of upper middle class people will actually buy this crap and only because they feel it makes them more elite than the next guy.
Well, that's the truth about tech, take it or leave it.
Xbox 360, HD-DVD combo less than $500?
May 17th 2006 9:43PM (Joystiq)Either that, or you hold your values and ethics as reporters really poorly. This is why Newspapers work hard to seperate opinion from reporting. Look, the PS3 will cost $549 CAD, compared to $500 CAD for the 360, they will both offer similar options. Besides, I don't remember you guys being so critical of the two-tier system for MS. Please, grow some balls and try to be subjective.
I'd do this shit for you, but then again I like a challenge in my job, not just copying and pasting news articles from other sites to your own accompanied by a neat description and some objectivity.
Please, grow some nuts or for the opposite sex - grow some ovaries.
I dunno, doesn't quite sound right.

May 12th 2006 6:31PM (Joystiq)Defining academic scholarship in games [Update 1]
May 5th 2006 9:13PM (Joystiq)Innovation and actual thought is required to make good games; it's more than good graphics, physics and stable 3D Engines.
As much of a brilliant Programmer that John Carmack is, he still will never be as brilliant and original as Will Wright or Shigeru Miyamoto. Developing good games is far more than getting a lot of sales and being popular, it's about doing something original and interactive.
I think that a lot of people have long forgotten this virtue of originality and original thought. You can't teach this, it can only be learned.
Anyways, irrelavant of any Academic experience you've had, you can still make a great and innovative game.
I guarantee it.
Real people speak out about Wii [Update 1]
Apr 28th 2006 5:27PM (Joystiq)It's quite a phenomenon, really. This site get's shittier everyday, fix it, k?
Real people speak out about Wii [Update 1]
Apr 28th 2006 5:24PM (Joystiq)Maybe Wii-Revolution? That's neat. The name just needs more.. than one syllable. It sounds like (rather.. is like) fucking retarded new-age stupid marketing bullshit. Hopefully, this won't dissaffect the gameplay or attitudes that people have about the console.
Besides that; I'd like to comment on the awesome censorship and lack of encouragement of free speech on this site; I've had what.. 3 or 4 comments of mine deleted on this site and I've witnessed several others mysteriously dissapear as well.
One was about how you guys called electronic devices "Sexy", which, in revision, is really retarded. It was a parody of your actions, really.
Way to go, guys. Stellar performance, we're all real proud of you, at least the jerks are anyways.
Garry to sell his mod through Steam
Apr 15th 2006 1:17PM (Joystiq)The source code was always under a GPL license, which meant that everybody had full access to it, but not everybody could use it commercially - only those who purchased rights to it could do so, dumbass.
If he's going to charge $10 for it, he'd better add some good shit in there, not just leave it the same but now charge for it - that's just bollocks.
Furthermore, can I still play the version of Gmod that I downloaded a few months back, or do I have to shovel up the cash now?
Anyways, somebody will release a better mod that's free eventually. Besides, it's not that $10 is too expensive for me, it's that I'm 2 years too young from legally owning a credit card and my parents are too reluctant to lend me theirs on the part of the fear of identity theft and what-not. This leaves me out in the dust for the whole digital distribution deal.
MMO VoIP: cross-reality calling
Apr 8th 2006 9:30PM (Joystiq)Type chat is superior for so many reasons - mostly since more than one person can talk legibly at a time. And it doesn't obstruct your music that your listening to. And you don't have to listen to the crackly voices of acne ridden male teens. It's just stupid - Period.
The entire concept of voice-chat is stupid - it's easier and a lot more peaceful to type than to talk. And it's a lot less annoying to read this than to hear this. Also, you can type at anytime of day, you can't scream into a mic at 3 in the morning.
So yeah, microphones are the worst thing ever to happen to videogames. It makes things 10x as more obnoxious - and 100x more annoying.
I think that I've made my point clear.
Good day.

Apr 8th 2006 12:27PM (Joystiq Nintendo)A glimpse into our future...
Apr 1st 2006 6:21AM (Joystiq)4 years? Hahahahah...hahhaha..hahhahahh
Seriously, people. At this rate, PS4 will not be released around somewhere at about 2012-14
Do you really think that less than 4 years will hold a new generation of completely new consoles? I mean, besides our current next gen consoles. Think again.
"
Apple-owned Nintendo's upcoming console, codenamed MD (or "Miyamoto Device") has been often rumored to utilize quantum computation--a move that has been criticized as being years-old technology."
Hehehe.. this is a very poor april fools attempt; you didn't even change the main page to make it seem legit.
Ugh, I'm going to find some more interesting April Fools events.
