David Yarnton speaks on UK launch

Sep 19th 2006 4:23PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
He's huge and he looks like he's about to knock someone's block off. Between him and Reggie I think Nintendo really are serious about re-conquering the the video game industry. By violent means if necessary. The fact that Iwata knows ninjutsu reinforces this.

Are Wii being set up for disappointment again?

Sep 19th 2006 3:55PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
This guy is a moron. I don't know who he is but I was later given the impression that he's some bigshot when it comes to games. Thankfully I because I didn't know that I was able keep my bullshit detector on...

"Nintendo’s President Saturo Iwata"

How the hell do you fuck that up?

"Nintendo console gamers we left with split screen gaming, or LAN for multiplayer."

More retard spelling.

And how many people actually used their PS2s for a LAN? He's actually using that in an argument? What the hell? Then he goes on to say...

"Developers have touted how easy it is to get their games running on Wii, yet very few exclusive titles are being made for it. Developers are mostly porting current-gen games over to Wii and adding Wii specific controls to games. For original titles, third party developers, have to devote complete development teams for making games specifically for the Wii, which is costly. For third party developers the size of Electronic Arts and Ubisoft who have the funding to be able to devote to that sort of gamble it’s a bit easier. It’ll be extremely interesting to see how long third party developers will take that chance, especially if their initial Wii launch titles don’t sell as well as they hope. Because if that happens, third party developers will be out just as fast as they were with the GameCube. Why should I buy a game that doesn’t look as good, controls strangely, and doesn’t have the online capabilities as the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 version? My gaming dollars are limited just as yours are, and I’m putting my money on the best experience. At this point, I’m not sold that Wii will have that, especially for third party games."

Ugh...

Nobody even knows what the Playstation 3's online service is. There was rumours about Xfire being implemented but nobody knows because Sony haven't said anything. And we all know Sony's track record when it comes to digital distribution on the internet... compared to the Wii's channels, WiiConnect24 service and Opera.

Why do people think that typing a lot of shit means somebody is an authority on something? Ugh... it reminds of stupid 7th grader essays trying to get the past the word minimum with pointless shit.

This guy is a moron. You might as well just copy/paste any long winded post on video games from any generic forum or blog. It's nothing we haven't thought of or read before anyway. And his spelling is so bad he's no better than you Joystiq/Fanboy contributers. Maybe one of you guys could apply for his job.

Taiko Festival Master gameplay footage

Sep 19th 2006 3:36PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Now this could be interesting. I've never played Taiko for PS2 but one of the arcades around me happens to own a real machine of it. I beat the crap out of it and it still works great. That's half the fun. I don't think a PS2 peripheral could handle it.

But this looks to be great. Anything could be a drum so long as the Wii-mote senses bashing. I could tie a cushion to a barstool or smack a punching bag. With my fists though. I'm wondering if this will come with a special shell.

I'd probably wrap the Wii-mote in duct tape to keep the batteries from flying out.

Aussie launch details emerge

Sep 15th 2006 5:47PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I'd just like to point out that we did get the DS lite before you Yanks.

The PSP is still going for around $400 AUD. Last I checked the 360 was $600 AUD. The PS3 is about $1000 AUD.

Nintendo consoles have always been about $300 at launch.

Personally. I don't really mind. I'd afford the Wii even if it was $1000. But that's just me. My friends have all heard the price and they are okay with it.

Whatever the price is on games... we naturally expect to be gouged. The same is true for any system. But... with the Wii being region free we might just save on pre-loaders and modchips and get games cheaper and earlier from overseas.

Rational gamers choose subsidized hardware, all else equal [update 2]

Hey Vladmir.

Do you shop at Wal-Mart everyday and just wish all the annoying people would shut already about predatory business practices?

And are you also the kind of guy who would make an impulse buy on something like say... 5 tonnes of off-cuts of plastic casing for only two-thirds the price. You have no possible use for that shit but you figure since the seller is losing out you HAVE to get it. It's only "rational."

US Nintendo press coverage not-so-live [update 9]

Sep 14th 2006 3:14PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ALL BITCHING ABOUT?!?

Nintendo said it wouldn't cost more than $250. There you go. It's NOT more than $250.

And what is this shit about the system being "weak" or a "modded Gamecube" or the same as an Xbox? Nintendo STILL haven't released the official specs on the Broadway or Hollywood processors.

That's the only thing that disappointed me. I was hoping they'd reveal that today.

Nintendo fanboys... we have failed. How are we going to look our opposition in the eyes?

iPod games "no substitute" for DS

Sep 12th 2006 11:23PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
I think this is a good thing. Even if Apple show a teeny bit of interest in casual games it's still a step in the right direction. If Apple would just get some good games it might finally kill PC.
