Well I'm probably not going to buy any more EA games from now on after Battlefield 2142.
I'm not sure what their motivation was (an attempt to stop piracy, control users or just the ability to ram more adverts down your throat), but the multiplayer 'options' are pathetic. You are forced to play the game only on their servers (or rented) and cannot host your own closed games to just friends or your clan.
This is bad enough, but when EA decides it's time to abandon their online functionality it will essentially make the entire game useless. Sure it may not happen, or not for awhile (like until EA want to force people to buy Battlefield 2342) but it is still a bad sign.
Imagine if Quake 3 had been made by EA & it was locked to their servers, we'd not see all the games still going 7 years on that we do today.
Hopefully the movie will be repeatable. Then You can grind the movie, watching it constantly and build up enough reputation with your local cinema to enable the purchase of some slightly better boots and/or pants.
Censorship is bad, rah rah rah. The fact of the matter is, this game is obviously depraved. It's also most likely, NOT VERY GOOD.
There are alot of very very violent AO films out there, and most of them are garbage. You may be ok with filling your brain with the lowest depravity you can get hold of just for the sake of it, or for something to talk about, but that doesn't mean companies like Sony, Nintendo or anyone else have to provide that crap for you.
Rockstar either knows what they can get away with and did an ultra violent/depraved version of the game for exactly this sort of publicity, or they're really screwed in the head to think that a bit of corpse banging is a good bit of Saturday night entertainment.
Erm ok. So far alot of people preaching about how bad it is this game is being censored.
If I made a film about beating cats and dogs with a nailed bat, would you all complain about censorship if it was banned?
Fact is Rockstar love stirring s#%t when it works in their favor, but when it backfires it's poor Rockstar. Give me a break.
There's enough violence in the world as is, society in general is going to an all new low. Why does our entertainment have to always add to it? I love fragging peoples brains out as much as the next man but I also see a difference between a Quake 3 gib and some goons beating a shop owner to death in a game.
Rockstar asked for it, they got it. They will probably now edit it abit and sell 5 million copies on the back of the controversy they purposefully created.
Great marketing, shame they feel the need to pull this crap to sell games rather than just making a good solid game that sells on its own merits.
Hahahaha what a load of erm... well I would say wank but I'm afraid there may actually be some people doing just that.
I'd say pole dancing is rarely that erotic unless the bird is really fit, I'm not sure if this is more or less pathetic than the current 'fitness' craze in the USA with pole dancing housewives.
Well from what Sony told us at the PSP launch they did intend to blow Nintendo (at least the DS) out of the water, and let's face it, they had a good chance to because at the time many people thought Nintendo had lost it with that crazy touch screen.
While Sony took a financial gamble entering the market, it didn't take a philosophical gamble like Nintendo. So we got a better machine in terms of graphical power in a potable, but with the DS we got new ways to play games.
Both are valid, but with the more-power route comes more development costs and time. This comes into play with the 'success' of the PSP because if it costs 2-3 times the amount of money to develop a game on the PSP than the DS yet the market share is much much lower, it in turn makes developers less likely to bother.
Sony thought that simply building a machine with graphical power would win it a spot in the portable market. We got UMD movies shoved down our throat, all these expensive add ons and accessories but very little in the way of actual games.
The PSP has sold millions, with millions more in store shelves (the shipped vs sold issue), so I dont think there will be a case of the PSP being "dead", there is a market there, but I'm not sure if Sony will try it's hand in the portable market again.
#39 That example doesn't really hold, unless Sony is turning a profit with each PSP sold.. which last I heard they were losing money (this was prior to all the price cuts).
Sell fewer systems (and games) + lose money per system (bad)

Today's hottest game video: Christie's pole dance from DOA Xtreme 2
Nov 24th 2006 7:33AM (Joystiq)Thank god this isn't out for Wii.. I shudder to think what "Innovative Game Controls" the sexually repressed devs would come up with.

Regardless, both should just stop.
