BioWare's next IP teased with Uncharted-esque car flipping action shot

Nov 7th 2011 12:32PM (Joystiq)
Well we know one thing for sure, it has at least one car crash.

Kind hoping we don't get another post apocalyptic wasteland thing. While I'm sure BioWare can do it well, and make it a unique and interesting experience, I'd like to see 'em try something that hasn't been so prevalent the last few of years.

I can't really seem to get anything out of this image though, and I stared for a good long time. Maybe if the car wasn't completely destroyed we'd be able to figure something out about it.

New Mortal Kombat movie coming from MK Legacy director

@Mrguy you know that guy It was kind of all over the place. Started off pretty good, then went all over the place. Scorpion and Sub-zero's story was okay. The cyborgs and Milleena and Kitana's story were god awful.

So the new movie series will be a reboot of the last series, which had nothing to do with the last game, which itself was a reboot?

My head is spinning.

Xbox Live Marketplace sales bonanza, starting today [update]

Sep 27th 2011 5:30PM (Joystiq)
@whylekat The problem is you can't purchase 800 points for $10 anywhere. The amount of points you can purchase are not given out in amounts that can be divided by game purchase. You'll always have points left over that can't just be added easily with another points purchase for another game.

This method ensures that you'll constantly have points remaining on your account. I know several people, myself included, who just ended up spending those points on whatever to get rid of them.

@notoriousEIC The difference is that I'm being forced to spend the extra money to get what I want, instead of voluntarily handing it over in the exact amount I want to spend.

@devildog9802 Don't know why you're getting downvoted for this. Points are a HUGE scam. They are specifically designed to not be rounded out properly with their real world value, and sold in specific amounts that you'll always have points remaining after you've bought what you want.

It took me some doing, but I'm at zero MS points on my account now. I have difficulty justifying purchasing more points these days, because I hate just have a weird number I can't spend on anything I want just laying around.

It's a crap system. I'd probably purchase a lot more if I could just spend real money on it, instead of using a really shitty points system that is designed to fleece us.

But it makes MS tons of money, so I doubt it'll change any time soon, and I'm super bitter about it.

Ni no Kuni (PS3) preview: In the Pig City

I wonder why the Japanese take on a evil voice, is just a regular voice that sounds like it's talking through a metal tube?

Finally! PS3 Firmware 3.72 arrives, changes everything

Sep 20th 2011 12:30PM (Joystiq)
@Roxas560 It's not bad until you sit down to play a game and suddenly have this patch to download and install first.

It's also annoying at the frequency they come out. 10 minutes ain't THAT bad, but the amount of time spent patching overall is kind of a little excessive.

Especially if the game you want to play also has a 100+mb patch.

Gears of War 3 review: The damage done

@ipsum Haha, exactly. I was sad he was on IGN before, as I never read anything on there.

However, I read Joystiq every day, so now I finally get the chance to see Arthur's stuff consistently.

Make some room for the Rage PC specs

Sep 7th 2011 1:58PM (Joystiq)
Really gotta thank the consoles for helping keep PC specs reasonable. Making it so that I can play most new games just fine on my three year old PC. I remember my last computer was nearly obsolete in the same amount of time.

Also, Carmack is kind of a genius. Bet the rest of the programming team isn't half bad either.
