GAME enters administration, delisted from stock exchange

VVVVVVV CRACKPOT IDEA BELOW VVVVVVV

Ok GAME let's do this. Something I've noticed over the past few years is the lack of demo stations in your stores and if there is one it usually has a bust controller or is turned off. Now take some of your close proximity stores, keep one as it is now, and turn the second one into a store full of demo stations. Upsides of this:

1) You can let people experience new things easier; one of the things with the 3DS and Kinect we all heard when they were announced was "You have to try it yourself". How many people do you see in Apple stores just there to try the latest iDooDa, learn from that.
2) No need for stock in two locations; let people order the item for pick up at the retail store and they can walk over and pick it up there.
3) Show off a wider variety of games; stocking 200+ copies of an awesome but fairly niche game sucks and if the demo station has a game it will be one of the big first party titles. A space with three 360 demos could showcase Halo and Forza, but also Rayman Origins.
4) Staff who are passionate about games will be in their element; the staff will be able to properly explain control mechanisms to customers and interact with the them in a more laidback atmosphere rather than having to ask you if you need help while browsing the shelves.

Call the second store "GAMEplay" and show Joe Public that games aren't just for kids or all about shooting people, but that they have heart, great stories and characters, immersive worlds, collaborative experiences, cinematic moments and artistic merit.

Call of Duty Elite subs getting four more pieces of unnamed MW3 content this year

@slickie

The content released for MW3 has been pretty decent thus far. I've watched my housemate play the three maps and they seem to address the concerns he had about map variety.

The two new spec op missions are awesome. They are challenging without being frustrating like some of the shipped ops. Very fun to play with a friend

Watch Tony Hawk play Tony Hawk in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD

@NukeAssault

It's something I truly admire about the older skaters. Their passion and love of the sport really is amazing. Former football (soccer) icons will have a kick around every so often, maybe play in a testimonial or charity game. These guys are still willing to ride a plank of wood with wheels on it down massive ramps at their age because it's what they love.

Pure is a great racing game, it is essentially SSX on Quads/ATVs. Lego Batman is probably the hardest game I've ever played and it's grest fun just smashiing shit up.

UK's Channel 4 finds new reality TV trend in The Sims 3

Feb 1st 2012 2:20PM (Joystiq)
In the early days of Big Brother UK, my sister and I would recreate the house and housemates in the Sims. We would only play the game when the show was on and both of us had to be present for decisions to be made. Thinking back it was actually far more enjoyable than this description implies.

@KodyxDestroyer

I'm a young guy but every PC Game I have ever bought has been new, not because I wanted to support the developer, but because they required an activation code that was included in new products.

The PC game retail products have had the same tactic in place since I can remember that people are complaining about the console game producers using now. You can't trade in PC games because this activation code has been used and the game is no longer the same value so the game store don't want it, thus there is a limited used PC games market and forces people to buy new copies which will give the developer the deserved cut of the sale that a used sale wouldn't.

The console producers want to ruin the used game market to make more money, and ultimately have you buying new copies instead just like the PC producers already have you.

GameStop shuttering Northern Ireland and Portuguese stores

@Shadowbender

I'll throw my 2 cents into the ring. Being in a GAME store has always been a more pleasant experience than Gamestop. The Gamestops in Belfast always seemed cluttered with cardboard cutouts making it nearly impossible to navigate through the door. I'm pretty sure the light was permanently off and it had a real sterotypical "gamer" feel. GAME on the hand has a very open layout, bright and inviting. Everything is easy to find and they do price competitively with HMV (FUN FACT: The main GAME store is actually right beside HMV http://g.co/maps/k2whw ). Gamestop had the upper hand in trade-in values compared to GAME and the staff were awesome, but the actual store was kind of the problem.
