Being a good neighbor in SimCity
Mar 28th 2012 12:46PM (Joystiq)One of the previous stories on Joystiq about SimCity 5 stated that the game would be using "Always-On" DRM, and The Internet (mostly those who care) was rightfully upset.
EA's answer was that, because of its multiplayer focus, and the effect players can have on the environment/economy on a global scale, it was a necessity.
Now, they let out a fluff piece glorifying this new feature, so as to divert the focus.
I'm all for this new feature, as I feel its a needed step, and is an excellent idea to boot.....but the option to be able to play online/offline should be there.

Mar 26th 2012 2:28PM (Joystiq)Seriously, as an avid Xbox supporter, Im tired of hearing they're going to release a new Xbox YEARS from now. WE get it, its coming. I couldn't care less. Unless its within 6 - 12 months from release, I'm not hyping myself up for it.
That being said, I think this is a great idea to try and snag some of those Iphone/Ipad/Wii casuals. The XBLA has become pretty respectable from the casual player/impulse buyer perspective. The titles have gotten bigger budgets, bigger capacity, heavy marketing, and most of them are jump in and play. Kind of something you buy your Girlfriend/younger sibling/ good friend, to get them into the scene, then eventually they'll want more. Potential, this has.
