PSA: Tropico 4: Modern Times out now through digital distribution

Does anyone care to explain the difference between this and SimCity? I've never played it, but its always comes off as a dictator simulator.

Rovio expanding into Sweden; next, the world

Mar 30th 2012 11:21AM (Joystiq)
HI'm not trying to jump on the Angry Bird hate-train, but the rapid expansion they have going on is ridiculous. I'm not trying to tell them how to run their company, because obviously they're ROLLING in the dough......but it seems they're spreading themselves thin.

Maybe try establishing a few more original titles before you make so many power moves?

Being a good neighbor in SimCity

Mar 28th 2012 12:46PM (Joystiq)
This sounds like a great idea and all, but I find the timing of this article awesomely coincidental.

One of the previous stories on Joystiq about SimCity 5 stated that the game would be using "Always-On" DRM, and The Internet (mostly those who care) was rightfully upset.
EA's answer was that, because of its multiplayer focus, and the effect players can have on the environment/economy on a global scale, it was a necessity.

Now, they let out a fluff piece glorifying this new feature, so as to divert the focus.

I'm all for this new feature, as I feel its a needed step, and is an excellent idea to boot.....but the option to be able to play online/offline should be there.

For a company that says their budget is limited, they sure have been making a lot of moves.

BioShock Infinite's 'Siren' warns of reborn enemies

@DarrylKensley

Agreed.

Also, I'm still holding out for them to make a game that takes place during the events leading up to Bioshock 1. Such a perfect setting.

This just reminded me how creepy it was trying to find the sirens in God of War 1.

Rumor: Stripped down Xbox planned for 2013

Mar 26th 2012 2:28PM (Joystiq)
Microsoft plans on releasing a successor to the Xbox sometime in the future? YOU DONT SAY!?

Seriously, as an avid Xbox supporter, Im tired of hearing they're going to release a new Xbox YEARS from now. WE get it, its coming. I couldn't care less. Unless its within 6 - 12 months from release, I'm not hyping myself up for it.

That being said, I think this is a great idea to try and snag some of those Iphone/Ipad/Wii casuals. The XBLA has become pretty respectable from the casual player/impulse buyer perspective. The titles have gotten bigger budgets, bigger capacity, heavy marketing, and most of them are jump in and play. Kind of something you buy your Girlfriend/younger sibling/ good friend, to get them into the scene, then eventually they'll want more. Potential, this has.

Am I the only one who kept thinking about boobies every time I read "Oriola"?

Going 'Guerrilla' in Ghost Recon: Future Soldier

@MRL3G3ND

I can't help but to Lawl and then facepalm when people call it Horde mode, and implications are made that its biting GoW.

Wave Based gametypes were around long before GoW.
