Overheard at E3: A trumpet fade out

May 12th 2006 11:36PM (Joystiq)
Thank You Joystiq Crew!
This site has been my #1 source for E3 happenings. I enjoyed the "Overheard at E3" articles, giving the readers a bigger perspective to the event and such a feeling that no other site would able to offer.

Awesome impressions, great pictures & videos(Nintendo Booth Tour being a highlight) and most of all, the reviews from each company's press conference.

Here's to next year!

Microsoft befriends Nintendo in fight vs Sony

May 11th 2006 9:20PM (Joystiq)
Yes, I think the 360 and the Revolution is the best choice for the next-generation at the moment, especially price-wise. Thumbs up for affordable next-gen consoles like the 360 and Revolution, using DVD as their format instead of opting for a newer technology like the HD-DVD and the Blu-Ray.

Don't get me wrong. I'm very neutral in the gaming world. I go where the games go. I WILL GET the Playstation 3 by the end of the year or in the beginning of next year once Sony has taken care of the minor bugs in the first batch of the consoles.

But yes, the PS3 is expensive. If anyone wanting to go HD gaming, better off with a cheaper solution like the 360 or Wii.

Castlevania DS: Art Style of Ugliness

Apr 20th 2006 9:52PM (Joystiq)
Why is this a surprise to everyone, if not most of you?
Konami has said that they wanted to grab more attention with the new "anime-like" artwork. Apparently, Japanese sales are declining for the Castlevania series so they've change the design a bit to catch the non-Castlevania gamers.

Funny thing though. The first one was of course, Dawn of Sorrow. Yet, Curse of Darkness(PS2) continued on with the gothic-style artwork. So while the others are getting the gothic treatment that everyone loves & cares for(like myself), the DS/GBA will probably have the anime-styling.

Real scientists use Duke Nukem

Apr 18th 2006 7:20AM (Joystiq)
It took a group of people and scientists to figure it out? What?! Everyone knows your brain needs a good night sleep in order to perform well at school, work or playing video games if that.

Regardless if you're gonna use a map or not, get those 8 hours of sleep. I know I didn't. I stayed up last night watching Futurama :/

Adams on the state of RTS

Apr 12th 2006 1:44AM (Joystiq)
Westwood's Command & Conquer series. I must stretch the word "Westwood" when I mention C&C. Even though Tiberian Sun wasn't well liked overall, Westwood Studios sure pulled it off when they did Red Alert 2, being one of my favorite C&C games.

Sadly, after Renegade the series just went straight down hill when EA took over and shut down Westwood for good.

Emperor: Battle for Dune is another good RTS. Again, by Westwood Studios.

Petroglyph Games is sure slowly rising(after the well received Empire at War with critics). Give it some time and hopefully we'll see some great RTS like when they did Dune 2, C&C and Emperor.

Sony loves mag's stance against RMT

The "person" who wrote the letter could've at least sign it or maybe printed his or her name on it, even if it's just the first name and not full.

Let's get formal here. You might as well end it since they started the letter off with "Greg and PC Gamer Crew"

Abusing in-game characters has violent repercussions

Whoa.
That freaked me out. Nice production value.

Goodbye, Katamari?

Mar 19th 2006 6:25AM (Joystiq)
@ Jago:
Same here. The Katamari Team could've at least done a Nintendo DS version before closing up. How can they miss this? Players could be rolling katamari by using their fingers instead of analog sticks or nub.

Turn an NES into a DVD player

Mar 7th 2006 1:56AM (Joystiq)
I'm still waiting for someone to turn an NES into a PS2(or any other console that's not Nintendo like Sega's Dreamcast). Bring it! I know there's someone out there that has.
