Window Art: fun and decorated windows

Apr 20th 2006 2:19PM (ParentDish)
My wife got this for our kids for the holidays, and they both love it. Their creations are currently (proudly) hanging on several windows and mirrors.

Woman discouraged from nursing in Fred Meyer store

I was all set to quote Peter "legalize it, don't criticize it" Tosh, but public breastfeeding is already legal, as it should be.

I think Dawn put it best. A mother nourishing her baby (when and where the baby demands it) is nothing less than a SACRED act.

Nadia Comaneci expecting first child

Nadia did compete for a Communist country in '76, but it wasn't Russia, it was Romania.

Here's an old-school arcade quote:

"Prepare To Qualify!"

How about some "Meatbag"-related quote from HK47 in KOTOR?

Portable DVD players in public: how far is too far?

Apr 13th 2006 7:06PM (ParentDish)
My wife and I were in IKEA a couple weeks ago, and we saw a 3-4 year old girl sitting in the basket of a shopping cart as her parents pushed her around. Every time they passed by, the child was holding her portable DVD player about 2-3 inches from her face. Oh, and it was so loud that you could hear it pretty far away. We have a portable DVD player for long car trips or extended sleepover trips without many kid-friendly activities, but that was ridiculous.

FYI, here's a review of one of our IKEA Smaland/GameWorks outings - http://gamefam.blogspot.com/2006/01/review-gameworks.html

The Wiggles are just really good people

Apr 5th 2006 12:39AM (ParentDish)
I appreciate the fact that they work hard to entertain, but I just don't enjoy the sounds they produce.

I prefer musicians like Laurie Berkner, Justin Roberts, They Might Be Giants, Jessica Harper, etc.

All of them are talented musicians who happen to make songs for kids, as opposed to the many no-talent hacks who try to exploit what they see as a less-discriminating audience.
