PSN game sharing to become more exclusive

Nov 6th 2011 3:10PM (Joystiq)
This whole deal smells of deeper reasoning, I suspect the main reason for this at this point in time is due to a push to sell FULL Current Titles & Stop trade-in Resale, by pushing the idea of "Convenience" they hope to brainwash people to buy digital copies, and thus reduce BM's from profiting and increase their profits on PSN, but where now a person can buy a full title for $50/$60 with getting to use it on 5 machine reduces it to $10 a pop,

Face we live today's families are heavily dependent on digital entertainment and with the PS3/PSN network friendly to a family with more than one gamer who likely has there own PS3 or cousins, best friend, the ability to share content you "OWN" on a system it is playable on is a selling point, Just as you buy a Blue Ray Disc and loan it to your mom, aunt or best friend.

What consumers need to do is put an end to this bait and switch SONY has a history of doing. First they gutted the feature of optional operating system, now the 5 downloads per account. Next logical step is total digital distribution..? all in the name in greed

I know many people saw a $9.99 title as like $2 a download, even if you had 2/3 machines it justified the purchase to 'Try it" but now at this new policy I only see $10.I know personally I will not be buying half the content I did before,

I always questioned why not just break it down to 1/5 the price and sell tons more cheaper. look at the iphone and other IOS, think of the millions of sold, $2-$5 is easily a child's allowance each week and a cash cow for them.

HAWX 2 features 'all aspects' of air combat, four-player campaign co-op

May 27th 2010 8:57PM (Joystiq)
If they do one thing that is make the entire game playable in a 'first person perspective" or cockpit view that will be a Tremendous improvement. You really need to feel that to be a good flight game, and then the controls/cockpit need to work, and along with the HUD wiil make it work.. The out side, distant 3rd person view was stupid and not fun it was something you just had to get to know but it wasn't the same

GameStop to offer in-store DLC purchases and new loyalty program this year

May 20th 2010 6:47PM (Joystiq)
The whole DLC content thing has gotten to be a bit much, when you buy a game that is done, the work is all done what cost yet is there to the makers? a game sold should be the "as is" not part of it locked for use at a cost later. That would be like buying a truck 4door car and only getting the keys to unlock 2doors..Then later when you pay more money at the time we feel is right we'll sell you the keycode for the to other doors.. That is just wrong. There should be sometype of ownership right we have to have all information on a disc available to the owner once we buy the disc & its contents. Why must we later pay again for something we have in our possession already. The way it is now it is sort of like legalized ransom... "We got your DLC, and holding it hostage, sure you got the disk.. but we got the code to let you touch it...Ha,ha,ha..(sinister laugh" "now Pay up!!"

Not too bad looking but seems like a cheap updated game similiar to "Sniper Elite"

Sony survey suggests new mode for MAG, additional paid character slot

May 14th 2010 1:59AM (Joystiq)
The extra slot should have been there from the start, after you reach veteran status the first time, you should have automatically been able to have slots 2 & 3 open up, allowing you to save your character eventually having a soldier in each of the three factions. That way depending on how many of each are playing in a give night you could find a game.

Then have some form of DLC say a monthly/bi-monthly release for a reasonable fee $6-$9.99 of new content, maps, modes etc at least change layout locations to keep variety. They could add more basic vehicles, buildings etc

Final Fight: Double Impact's PSN requirement is anti-sharing DRM

Apr 23rd 2010 12:34AM (Joystiq)
It is a joke when you think about because say your ps3 dies and you normaly have 4 more downloads to just copy you stuff again, now because of this what happens? You have to rebuy? I'd be mad. Digital content unlike durable content is it's always available, no need to store make room for new titles its always ready and available for sale at FULL Price, up until now stuff has been on sale regularly.
When you consider the 5 download idea that makes it basically $2 for a $10 game, why not just sell games at that $2 for one copy, then if you system dies you rebuy it? I'd be happy paying that or say $1 for a $5 game, etc. not $10, $15 or $20 that might get corrupted or lost should my system die..

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 VIP Map Pack 3 almost ready for deployment [update]

Apr 23rd 2010 12:20AM (Joystiq)
How can they call it "NEW" maps when we already have them they are just making it seem like things are new as they "Rationing" what maps will let you play what mode.

When the game shipped we should have been able to use "All the Maps" with "All the Modes" of play, then to keep people from getting to know a map like the back of their hand, ALL NEW maps would be added. Not to mention that other Call to Arms game, but at least they give totally new areas to play in usually. If I didn't have the VIP version I'd not buy them

PS3 Firmware 3.30 available now

Apr 22nd 2010 5:13PM (Joystiq)
Sorting trophy? that is something that should have been there from the start, What they need to do is make a way to 'Delete' titles with NO trophies. It's a pain to rent a game and find in order to play it a Trophy file must be created. Then it's stuck on you machine even when you return the game.

Amazon lists Midnight Club: Los Angeles 'Complete Edition' for PS3, Xbox 360

Sep 19th 2009 6:17PM (Joystiq)
I really don't like the packaging, why have that ugly red strip on the PS3 game at all, and from what I've read the game will have 4 new 'special moves' brought back from a previous game "..Special Moves return from Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition -- classics like Zone, Agro and Roar are joined by a newcomer, EMP"
If they are smart and add in other DLC then they are possibly gonna make alot of money.

Which considering game manufacturers receive NOTHING from used game sales will create a big reason for people to buy this $30 game and not a used copy with no DLC. With games coming out at $60 to re-release it in 2-3yrs later.. will decrease the amount of used games being sold and more profit than a bunch of $60games being left while people buy used..
