I just bought a 640 gb 2.5" 5400 rpm hard drive for 65 bucks shipped from newegg. Memory is getting cheaper every second. Hopefully sony won't be charging more than 50 bucks for an extra 100 gigs of hard drive space.

My best guess is that the school charged something along the lines of a "technology fee" to their tuition. So you're probably losing money by selling it on ebay.

@narles how about ps2 game support with 1080p upconversion? Stupid sony, I know they have a software emulation solution, but they want to make money by charging people to buy it on psn.

@mhunterjr If I recall correctly, the xbox360, wii, ds, psp, etc are all hacked, yet developers still continue to develop games. Even if the PS3 gets hacked, it will still be the least pirated of the consoles and portables due to the blu ray discs and massive size of the games.

@Lech I don't think pirating will be that much of a problem for a while. Not at first at least. Blu ray discs and burners are still too expensive for most people. People also aren't going to want to download 25+ gb's of data for one game. The only good thing that can come from piracy is that it will lower how much some of these ps3 games cost. 60 bucks is way too expensive to spend on a video game, imo.

This seems like great news. I want homebrew and a way of installing linux on my slim. I hate how I can't play .mkv files unless I want to stream using another application. I want to be able to play all my video files directly on my ps3.

3D tv is gonna fail miserably. This is going to be the next cablecard.
