It depends a lot on your subject and what you plan to do with the image you shoot (oh and budget obviously), right?
Also, I really think you oversimplified the importance of aperture. You do realize that lenses become sharper, not just in relation to DoF, when the aperture # increases. Most lenses have sweet spots above their most open aperture. Imagine if you shot landscape photos a lot? How important is a super fast 1.2/f then?
Btw, I love fast lenses, but it doesn't seem key for taking good pics depending on what you're shooting.
