A closer look at the new Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock axe
Jun 9th 2010 6:47AM (Joystiq)Meanwhile, the GH people just sit back, take the beating and know we are having more fun with our x11 band multipliers, band moments, party play and rockfests.
Take pictures and launch any game you want in Home 1.3, coming this fall
Sep 23rd 2009 12:01PM (Joystiq Playstation)Read all about it and stop whining already! It's not going to happen thanks to Microsoft. Just like Neftlix Xbox will NEVER get 40% of their movie library thanks to SONY owning those studios and not letting them on Xbox. They'll have to get over that.
It's business, and gives people a reason to buy certain consoles. SONY has time and time again told you people that developers can put in a simple code for custom tracks in their games. Obviously, that's not something developers want to do, and hate you can do it on Xbox because they work really hard on those background sounds to just have them thrown out the window so you can listen to Blink 182 and Lil' Wayne. Where do they fit into Call of Duty? haha Games liek RB2, Killzone 2, and Resistance 2 in PlayStation 3 let you listen to your own soundtracks.
You should be able to "Phone Friend" and then "Setup Conference Call" in PS Home to start your party and have the voice chat run through that way. That seems like the easiest method to do it to do dedicated chat, even if it's not cross game yet. What's the purpose of talking to someone playing flower when you're playing KillZone 2?
Guitar Hero 5 DLC not compatible with World Tour
Sep 23rd 2009 11:46AM (Joystiq)RB has you hitting a different pad for the same cymbal/tom. Like a hi-hat is Yellow AND/OR Blue on RB. Why? It's the same damn hi-hat. I'm only using 1 hi-hat. They have you do different pads if it's opened or closed. Whereas Guitar just says, Hit me harder for open hi-hats and you'll get extra points. Thanks for recognizing I'm open! If you want really accurate charts, go get the RR drum set and game. No one beats that so far, although the songs are all covers.
I'm waiting for Drum Hero, hopefully it'll come. It'll be songs that'll be really well known for drumming and hopefully a BAD ASS drum kit that is made in conjuction with Roland or something. Drummers have been on the back burner for a game. We need a game with a hi-hat pedal, and at least 7 pads with proper setup. I want my hi-hat over there and my ride over there. GH does a pretty good job of that, but still uses the same cymbal for crash/ride and yellow is now crash-splash/open-closed hi-hat and depending on how you hit it is the sound you rep. It's nice though.

Sep 23rd 2009 11:38AM (Joystiq)Turbine: Easier to develop MMOs on the Xbox 360 than the PS3
Sep 19th 2009 4:04PM (Joystiq)Xbox LIVE still hasn't gotten to 64 players together yet. Talk about limiting! It's just the way their servers are setup NOW (it didn't use to be this way) that everything MUST go through MS servers before it hits the game devs servers or the user hosted servers. This leaves many users NEVER able to connect to eachother EVER on Xbox LIVE! Whereas, on PlayStation Network, I may be able to connect to someone on GH and COD but not on RB2 and Red Faction.
Turbine: Easier to develop MMOs on the Xbox 360 than the PS3
Sep 19th 2009 3:58PM (Joystiq)I'm also seeing a little hateraid - I hope everyone does know that reading blu-ray is a lil different the DVD reading. DVDs don't allow you to really leave space between each section of the disc where new data is stored. Blu-ray discs leave you plenty of opportunity, you just have to develop that into your game and into yoru disc writing. The larger the space in-between, the faster the game stuff will load. Look at the new Guitar Hero 5, songs load faster on PS3 on Blu-ray than 360/Wii on DVD. Why? The spacing on the BD is optimal for reading. Yes at current, first gen BD players read slower than current gen DVDs, look at how old the technology is. CDs and VCDs were a lot faster to write to than DVDs when DVDs first came out. The difference was, people were willing to do DVD because it was a better techonology with more space and more flexability once you figured it out. Same with BDs and writing to BDs, once you figure how develop properly, you realize you're in a much better place, like Neversoft did with GH5 and they did with LBP, and Treyarch with COD WaW. IW has there had stuck too far up their behinds to not be 360 jacklegs. (I own both, but prefer my PS3.) But we are seeing an influx of devs going straight for PS3, it may be harder, but the tech has more potential. And, I'm still looking forward to SONY making split BDs. They are half PS3 games/half Movie discs. Since scaling the games back to DVD size leaves enough room for a movie to be put on a Blu-ray Disc (BD). So you buy, Wanted the game, and you get Wanted the Movie on the same disc. Beautiful concept.
BioWare 'caught up' and 'pumped' on PS3 development
Jul 9th 2009 12:53AM (Joystiq)It's just another round of rumors.
BioWare 'caught up' and 'pumped' on PS3 development
Jul 9th 2009 12:44AM (Joystiq)This year alone, the only thing coming out knocking the PS3 has been rumors started by XBOX fanboys. While this year PSN has hit more registered users, and I believe will have more exclusive releases in 1 year than xbox will have in the same year.
Look across the web, people are all say, I'm looking for the opportunity to get rid of my XBOX so I can buy a PS3. People are waiting for their 360's to break? People who bought PS3's on the first day and play online have paid less than people who bought 360's the same day who play online. Of course mainly because of XBOX live, and the people who spent the money on their HD-DVD add ons, Wireless Add-Ons, and larger hard-drive add ons. And the thousands who have spent countless hours without their 360's because of RROD due to overheating errors, GPU failures, and other motherboard failures.
I'm not saying PS3 is flawless, because it's far from that, they can't even simply fix the battery over the clock and perform the most simplest tasks from the XMB during a game, like looking at a photo in a message you recieve. But whatever Sony set's out to do, they do it right. When they say they're going to fix an issues, it's fixed 100% then some.
BioWare 'caught up' and 'pumped' on PS3 development
Jul 9th 2009 12:33AM (Joystiq)It wasn't exactly what he said, but that's the skinny on what he meant by what he said.
BioWare 'caught up' and 'pumped' on PS3 development
Jul 9th 2009 12:30AM (Joystiq)Secondly, I wouldn't say the actual gameplay is any better on XBOX than on PS3. Or is the online any better on PSN for what it is than it is on XBL. Load times from harddrive are about the same for both systems. Of course, Loadtime on PS3 from Blu-ray Disc is a little longer cause there's more data possibility to sift through.
