'Right guys, we're in financial trouble, our business is selling games. How should we fix it?'
'We could stop selling games?'
'Great! Sounds at least as good an idea as any I've come up with'

Beacause that name's too close to some new minimalist muscle-building tablets that Apple are bringing to market.

Rumor: Microsoft phasing out Microsoft Points

Jan 24th 2012 6:00PM (Joystiq)
Of course Microsoft Switzerland have denied the change, they must be loving the exchange rate with the Franc right now! Whereas the countries in the Euro are probably contemplating moving their currency over to Microsoft points entirely.

I'm old school and refuse to accept anything Resident Evil unless it involves a zombie making me sh1t myself and flee in perfect circles against a cupboard.

Microsoft adjusts reported Live ID security concern

Jan 17th 2012 12:53PM (Joystiq)
Phew, just in time for me to hand my code to Microsoft's PR:

10 IF complaint IS MORE THAN serious THEN GOTO 40
20 IGNORE complaint
30 END
40 IF complaint IS LESS THAN litigious THEN GOTO 80
50 PRINT 'WE HAVE HAD A SMALL PERCENTAGE OF complaint, HOWEVER complaint IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY AND SOMETHING MICROSOFT TAKES VERY SERIOUSLY, WE WILL ASPIRE TO RESOLVE THIS TO EVERYONES COMPLETE SATISFACTION'
60 RUN fix
70 END
80 PRINT 'I CAN STATE WE HAVE HAD NO ISSUE WITH complaint, MICROSOFT CONTINUOUSLY AUDITS ITS SYSTEMS TO AVOID ISSUES OF complaint.'
90 GOTO 20

Report: UK retailer GAME's customer database breached

Jan 16th 2012 1:01PM (Joystiq)
The thing that annoys me is that everytime something like this happens, the company always rolls out with ' The security and confidentiality of our customers' data is always of the highest importance to us'. Which seems to be corporate code for 'We are very annoyed this has happened, because it's shown up our lax security and now we have to pay for P.R to help make things look better'.
Also annoying: The same way that in the foodservice industry 'fresh' can now be interchanged with 'crap' to translate the marketing in real terms.
