Considering how badly Assassins Creed sucked and that was Ms Raymond's baby I'm not expecting anything decent to come out of this studio while she is running it. Hawt looks and easy marketability do make good games. I'd be happier if they got Miss Minger 2009 in to run the show if there was a chance of a decent game or two coming from the studio.
I hated the first game after playing fir 5 mins, disliked it after 1/2 an hour and by the time I had played it for a couple of hours I really liked it. Once I got to level 45 it was far far too easy and so got a bit boring.
For a dev's first attempt at such an ambitious games it was not that bad. The world was large and varied, there were some interesting stories and quests, the item and magic stacking was good.
I love RPG's and enjoyed the first, so I be getting the sequel.
They said a while ago now that they were working on a project called 'T' which I always assumed was Thief as it's a great IP to own, and they should be making one.
Didn't some Eidos guy say a while ago that he wanted Thief to be more contemporary in setting, that worries me I loved the medieval / steampunk settings of the first 3.
They will have to do something about the level of the creatures as well, I've owned the wastleland since level 14-15 and now at level 20 I think nothing of fighting 9 NPC's at once using VATS (and the grim reaper sprint perk). It would be nice if new creatures/factions were introduced that had a much higher level than NPC's are currently limited to now, to make the game a bit more challenging from level 20-30.
It would also be great if this DLC was going to be regular, like every month the only downside is the cost at £8 for 4 hours of play when I paid £40 for the game that I have already played for 155 hours and not completed yet, it could end up being a £100 game. Come on MS, 600 points is the new 800 points, we are in a recession after all.
Activision handled the GH3 DLC very badly, months between releases, no release schedule, over priced and not very good. They never addressed any questions we had about DLC, it just infrequently appeared in XBMP.
I did buy the pack with Bark at the Moon and Ace of Spades and I like it, but I would have bought loads more if it had have been cheaper and more choice.
They could had quadrupled their sales but they fucked right up. There is nothing for Activision to feel proud about here.
The only thing that bothers me about in game ad's is that dev's might start only making games that support them. I mean how would you fit an ad for a contemporary company into Assassins Creed or The Elder Scrolls, it worries me that we could see the end of games like this if they can't advertise the latest movie or drink in them.
Sure the ad's in Rainbow Six were ok, but surly the greedy publishers like Activision, EA and Ubi are only going to green light project that they can sell advertising in soon.
