Tiny Tower dev wishes Zynga luck on clone

Jan 25th 2012 11:50AM (Joystiq)
Zygna is notorious for copying (in some cases exactly) indie developers ideas. This is no shocker there. In most cases, the indie doesn't have the resources to sue, in others Zygna just throws a wad of cash at the company to shut it up.

PlanetSide 2's scale dwarfs Battlefield, Call of Duty franchises

Lofty expectations, until they realize that the server hardware (or the crappy client system) can't handle it and crash and burn. Many games have been down this path before, usually they don't come out on top and scale things back a bit.

The Revolting Blob.. A mix between comic book guy , a short order cook from the mid west and the protagonist from the SouthPark episode "Make Love, Not Warcraft"

I was a pretty heavy user for the first 3 years, then tailed off. Account is inactive at the moment, but I'd estimate my /played time for all my characters to weigh in about the 250 day mark.

How Star Wars: The Old Republic tackles the grind

Oct 8th 2010 9:56AM (Joystiq)
As long as they don't have stupid "collect 20 ewok skulls" and have the drop rate being totally crappy I'd be ok with the "grind" quests.

Modern Warfare 2 DLC half off on Steam this week

Oct 6th 2010 10:36AM (Joystiq)
Corporate greed at its finest. First DLC should have been discounted once the second one came out, but that would have made too much sense and too little money for them.

Here's to hoping the DLC for black ops has more value instead of a handful of rehashed maps for $15.

EA giving free game to disgruntled APB buyers [Updated]

Sep 27th 2010 12:00PM (Massively)
"The reason the game failed is not because of the developer, but it is because of us, the player."

You are dead wrong here. The game failed because of the developer. They blew $100M on this game over 5-6 years. The game was an unfinished mess and they forced it onto the market too soon. Talk to any closed beta tester and they will tell you the devs at RTW did not listen to a thing they said. The game was really no different 1 year ago then it was at launch, which is unacceptable. RTW knew they had no money left and tried to have the end user pay for keeping them afloat until they could get it right through patches. Too little too late.

The gamers decided the fate of RTW by refusing to keep paying for an unfinished product, hopefully this is a lesson to future MMOs that want to try and pull fast ones on the consumer.

Report: Some APB players receiving compensation, but denied refund

Sep 27th 2010 11:48AM (Joystiq)
Generally EA is offering you anything from their Digital Download store. Most people have only had success with getting current titles and no preorder stuff (DAO2, MOH ..etc). I was able to get DAO:Awakenings out of them. Just had to show a screenshot of my paypal purchase of the game (which I got via Steam) and uploaded it to imageshack, then sent the guy in the online chat the link to it.

Something is better than nothing I suppose.
