PS3 Modern Warfare 2 experiencing multiplayer issues; patch expected Friday [final update]

Nov 11th 2009 1:09PM (Joystiq)
It's on the things you put up with on PSN, having to incorporate Xboxes crappy P2P networking, rather than the dedicated server norm of PS3 and PC land..

The sooner the crapbox360 dies it's horrible overdue death, the sooner we can all move on this generation.

Gran Turismo 5 cost roughly $60 million to develop

Perfection takes time and costs money. You would think all those losers with crappy rushed out and unreliable Xboxes would have understood that concept by now.

You pay cheap you get crap.

GameStop: PS3 sales remain 'very strong' post price cut

OK, Ill explain it for those too stupid to work out that are being played by selective reporting and manipulating accounting.

When Microsoft and Joystiq report than Microsoft made money, it means they made money IN THAT QUARTER. Microsoft cleverly reserved money for upcoming expenses like 360 development (3.2bn), and RROD (1.2bn, but nearly double that now).

What this means, is they had horendously bad quarters in the ones they reserved that money, but then everything looked great in the following quarters because all the expenses were coming out he reserve pot.

The fact remains (regardless of Joystiqs selective reporting) Microsoft have lost nearly $9bn to date on the Xbox/Zune division (I mention Zune, as it's in the same financial group as Xbox). They lost £3.6bn alone on the original Xbox venture, they wasted another £3bn on 360 development and they have lost $2.2bn on RROD.

What people forget, Sony's $5bn loss includes Blu-Ray and Cell development, both of which will pay dividends long after the 10yr PS3 lifecycle. PS3 $5bn include alot of investment, Microsofts are pure loss, what can they take away from Xbox and use in the next system? The CPU? nope, the DVD drive?

Gearbox admits Borderlands PS3 friends list glitch, fix coming 'as quickly as possible' [update]

Actually the PS3 version is the better version, sure it needed a serverside patch, but the 360 version is a ugly glitchfest from what I hear...

Interesting that Joystiq seem to have "forgotten" to mention the biggest feature, you know the one that locks out all your data if you don't buy overpriced Microsoft branded memory cards.

Talk about holding a gun to your head, they destroy your game saves and then charge you for a memory card that works again...

Still it's not as bad as the $100 Xbox Live fee hike that's comming....

the kind of retards that actually make/watch this crap are no better than the retards that got all wound up last year about how crappy UMD was, and are not being manipulated into thinking how great UMD was now it's not there any more.

Where can I go for gaming news that now full of manipulated retards like here?

Rumor: PS3 now 70 percent cheaper to manufacture

Jul 31st 2009 12:17PM (Joystiq)
I love how the press love to spin things. Yesterday it was all about how badly Sony were doing. Now today it seems that Sony are making $200 currently on every PS3 sold.

Now conder than Sony came within 100,000 units of matching Xbox sales last quarter (1.1m Ps3, 1.2m 360), and Microsoft have already had their pricecut, lose money on the cheap models, and don't sell too many of the expensive models, who do you REALLY think is having problems?

As much as all you retards want a pricecut, it 'aint gonna happen, or at least it does not need to happen, as clearly Sony can near on match the 360 sales, and make a tonne of profit, whilst Microsoft make loose change.

Seems to me, Sony have the choice, they can take the respectable sales numbers, and great profit margins, OR do a price cut and get a large boost in sales numbers.. Nice place to be in. Rather that than Microsofts place right now, "did a price cut, and still nearly got spanked by PS3".

It's also worth pointing out that PS3 1.1m was SOLD and Microsoft's 1.2m was SHIPPED! Read the financial statements, Clearly Microsoft are cooking the books...

PlayStation hardware, software sales decline in Q1 2009

@Ryan. Not sure what measure you use, but as a gamer, I consider
quality to be my measure, I don't care at all about sales.

PS3 is clearly in 1st place, Xbox 2nd (the first loser in your eyes),
and Wii trailing a distant 3rd.

So in summary:

Sony sold 1.1m PS3's
Microsoft sold 1.2m 360's

100,000 difference, now considering the much higher pricepoint of the PS3, and the fact Sony are making a small amount on the PS3, yet Microsoft are now losing a small amount of money, since the price drop, it means that the PS3 is actually in really good shape, and it's actually Microsoft thats in trouble, as it's got it's pricedrop out the way, Sony are still getting a premium price, and have a pricedrop waiting in the sidelines...
