12 Days of Joyswag: Enslaved Collector's Edition resin statue and game

Dec 15th 2010 7:58AM (Joystiq)
Between time, money, and backlog, I just haven't been able to justify buying a new game for a while. I've been looking forward to Enslaved for a while, but just haven't gotten it yet.

HOARD: dragons meet dual-stick shooting on PSN

What the crap is a half-dimension? If it's not 3, it's only 2. Well then, maybe if it's slightly more than three, then maybe it could be π dimensions.

CESA calculates gaming industry losses due to portable piracy

Jun 6th 2010 11:23PM (Joystiq)
True. But I'd be very surprised if the number of sales lost to illegal downloads is anywhere NEAR 10%. I'd be surprised if it were even in the neighborhood of 0.1%.

Battle vs. Chess coming this Fall to just about every platform

"... but will rather place players in a 'beat-'em-up style encounter.'"

Does that mean that you'll have to beat your opponent in strategy AND fighting? In other words, if you attack my pawn with your queen I can win the battle?

Hmm ... sounds intriguing.

Final Fantasy XIII ships 5 million copies

I agree with your statement, but your logic is not quite right. The fact is, people have been buying the PS3 for YEARS in anticipation of this game. For example, Final Fantasy is one of the main reasons I bought my 60-gig launch PS3. On the other hand, it has only been multi-platform for the last year or so.

Review: Final Fantasy XIII

I've heard the same argument from a lot of "hard-core" RPG fans. Here's my opinion on linearity and world maps.

Honestly, I liked the world map, but I don't know how well it would work anymore. I think that it would deal a serious blow to the general gameplay and graphics. If there was a way to give it more of an open-world feel, without having to watch your character navigate a map could be good, but the map, itself, is a step backwards, I would say.

Review: Final Fantasy XIII

Yeah, but it really sucks when low expectations ruin the entire thing. This is the reason that I don't really put much stock in reviews, for games or movies. I figure that, if I really want to experience something, I will, whether or not someone else told me my time would be worth it. Everyone has their own opinion.

ApocalyPS3: 8 out of 11 PS3 'fat' SKUs affected, PS3 shared Zune chip

Good one. I'll bet nobody has thought of that joke already.

Actually, the PS3 knew that it was leap year. It was this third-party chip that did not. The PS3 saw an invalid date, became confused, and crashed.

If not, Sony will just patch the PS3 so that it knows what to do the next time it sees an invalid date from the chip. There are work-arounds.
