Sony: PS2 back compat not returning to PS3 (ever)
Aug 21st 2009 4:37PM (Joystiq)That's good to know, but I am not in the position to spend $330 on a PS3 right now.
Sony: PS2 back compat not returning to PS3 (ever)
Aug 21st 2009 2:32AM (Joystiq)I got a Wii soon after launch, and my "main" game for it has been Brawl (followed closely by NMH). I admit I don't play it much anymore, but I'll be getting NMH2 either when it comes out or after it's dropped to about $35-40.
I got a 360 last year with RB2. I was comparing the 60GB Pro 360 and the BC-less 80GB PS3. I believe that PS3 was $50 more than the 360 I bought. For me, I couldn't justify that $50. It didn't justify the fact that none of my friends with PS3s played games online, it didn't justify the lack of BC, it didn't justify the Blu-Ray advantage, and it didn't justify the feel of the Dual Shock 3. It did have built-in WiFi and a replaceable HD, but (1) my family's TV is literally right beside our router and (2) I didn't feel like the extra HD space was important. On the other hand, I had friends that played on Live (and I've played GoW2 with them and plan to play MW2 with them), I've had the chance to play SW Battlefront 2 and KOTOR 2 (out of my approx. 10-15 games), I use it for Netflix and have used it as a DVD player, and my only complaint regarding the 360 controller is the D-pad. I've paid for one year of Live, but don't plan to pay for another (the "free time" issue again), so the total costs are the same in the end, I guess.
If I had not bought a 360 and only had my Wii, I would probably have preordered a slim PS3 by now. But I have my 360, and haven't considered purchasing a PS3 since then. I have, on occasion, considered buying a PS2, however.. and *that* might still happen. And I may get a PS4 instead of whatever Ninty or MS come out with next. But not a PS3.

Aug 20th 2009 7:32PM (Joystiq)Regarding buying a used PS2, I'd seriously consider that if I thought I'd have more free time. I've been itching to try Disgaea (after playing the DS version) and Persona, maybe DQ, KH, and FF. But, to me, I won't be able to play those games enough to justify buying a PS2 (or PS3 for the newer ones) for a while.

Aug 20th 2009 7:15PM (Joystiq)There aren't any that appeal enough.
There are a bunch I would get if I had a PS3, but not enough to justify buying a PS3.
