Bungie posts, pulls signup survey for secret beta

Mar 10th 2011 6:54PM (Joystiq)
I got the email, and did the survey.

Surprisingly, I had no problems whatsoever. I expected it to flake out half way through, but no.

It was pretty straight forward. And TBH, it felt more like a marketing/demographics survey than actual beta sign-up.

Favourite question asked: "Are you a game developer?"

Sony announces firmware 3.10 for PS3 with Facebook integration, coming 'soon'

I don't care about Facebook.

Just give me .mkv support already.

Losses, layoffs in EA's Q2 earnings report

Nov 10th 2009 4:51PM (Joystiq)
""EA is performing well, with quality, sales and segment share up so far this year.""

A quarter loss of 391 million smackos, and they're "performing well".

If they performed any better, they'd be completely out of business.

Review: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Nov 10th 2009 4:24AM (Joystiq)
Most anticipated game of the decade. Really? Are you sure, IW and Activision?

I seem to remember a little game called Halo 3 being rather anticipated, to the tune of millions of pre-orders and a huge marketing/hype campaign that dwarfs the MW2 campaign.

Happy Halloween! You're banned from Xbox Live.

"While I don't condone game piracy, I also don't feel too bad for the game industry when someone pirates considering the massive amount of money that this industry generates."

You've heard about the many thousands of developers who have lost their jobs over the last year, right?

And the dozens of small games companies that have failed?

Don't confuse Sony, Nintendo and MS with the "industry". The actual creators of games do it tough. There's very often a minute profit margin. Most commonly, there's no profit margin at all.

Not every game is an AAA title produced by Sony or Microsoft Game Studios...

Microsoft says Halo 3: ODST disc read errors aren't 'widespread'

Sep 28th 2009 10:33PM (Joystiq)
Of those "1,769" people who reported errors, how many are:

- genuine problems with ODST owners, and

- PS3 fanboys. The same PS3 fanboys which troll every Halo thread, marking down comments, making up bullcrap RROD statistics, and claiming that "although they own a 360, the PS3 is really much better".

31% of total ODST owners sounds like total bullcrap, to be honest. There are a significant number of people affected, but there's no way it's like 600,000 people.

Naughty Dog 'maxed out' the PS3 with Uncharted 2

Sep 11th 2009 4:17PM (Joystiq)
Of course the 360 could never do what Uncharted 2 does.

But not for technical reasons. Just money reasons.

Sony owns Naughty Dog outright. They started design on Uncharted before the PS3 was ever released. The product's purpose was to be a Sony brand-boosting product, written from the ground up for the PS3, and ONLY the PS3.

So when Naughty Dog keep saying "this couldn't be done on the 360", what they really mean to say is that "this probably could be done on the 360, it's just that we're paid to do and say otherwise.".

In other news, Microsoft have announced that Apple "couldn't possibly do Zune".

Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters flown to Valve; boycotters boycot original boycotters

Sep 10th 2009 5:47PM (Joystiq)
"so im guessing everyone here is picking up L4D2 when it releases?"

Not me. But not because of the sequel status, or because of whiny, pimply-faced virgins and their look-at-me campaigns.

I'm not buying L4D2 because I live in Australia, where there are no dedicated servers for the 360 version. Play with trans-Pacific pings is NOT fun.

If Valve ever get around to allowing the 360 version use dedicated servers locally, or allow (easy) access to the P2P hosting options, then I'll buy it.

Left 4 Dead 2 boycotters flown to Valve; boycotters boycot original boycotters

Sep 10th 2009 5:44PM (Joystiq)
"I'm boycotting Halo ODST for lack of a true multiplayer."

No you're not. Come on, tell a truthy.

If you're this worked up about this issue, then you'll like Halo enough to buy it.

Chart Track: PS3 sales up 999% percent in UK

Sep 9th 2009 11:32PM (Joystiq)
"2.5 years the PS3 has not been selling very well, yet the reality is it's been selling great guns"

What a shame for you that Sony, the WSJ, GameStop, EA and pretty much everyone who has held off buying a PS3, disagrees with you.

PS3 sales have been poor, with a downward trend.

The Slim will hopefully reverse that.

Fanboys, however, are always operating in reverse.
