I want VF vs. Tekken, dammit. At least DoA / VF crossover makes more sense than Tekken x Street Fighter, but still, what the crap for crap?
At least they picked my favorite.
If this turns into a straight up VF vs. DoA that would be interesting, as long as they don't pull a cap com and try to sell you 12 characters that they already put on the disc.
@Korbie Oh, neat. I never saw that second poll. I just remember the original one where the beauty queen won with a plurality of votes.
@Commander0Zero I meant more that most people are lazy, not idiots. "Press button play game", and the stats on "used the face editor" don't really mean a whole lot, either, since we don't know what people did in there beyond "look at the options". Heck, with all the "x person in ME2" images out there, it could just have been people loading that stuff up.
Which is not to say that people didn't prefer Mark Shepard on average, that may be true. *But*, that is *not* what those numbers say. So if someone wants to use them to assert the idea that Jennifer Shepard is explicitly less preferred (vs. implicitly preferring Mark Shepard), they are DOIN IT WRONG
Those numbers don't mean what you seem to think they do. Remember, the male shepard model is the default, so anyone who's too lazy to bother changing the appearance isn't actually expressing a preference.
I think those numbers are more an expression of "a majority of gamers are dudes, and dudes aren't as likely to switch to a female character, especially when the default is male, because they are insecure". (And then I'd amend that to say that they'll defend their implicit action as if it were a rational choice, when it's really just post hoc justification.)

What's weirding me out is that is almost exactly the Shepard I created in the editor. I'm kind of glad they seem to have just ignored the Facebook poll that picked aryan fantasy Shepard.
I was really upset that they didn't include Wang Chung in this pack until I remembered that Wang Chung was actually a completely different band and I'm an idiot.
Notch doesn't have a damn clue how to run a software company. This isn't really debatable. He Homer Simpson'ed his way into notoriety by breaking his authentication / store / homepage server and deciding not to fix it for a weekend while people played the game. His success is in spite of himself.
He doesn't know how filesystems work. Look at the laughable original level storage design. It's perfectly fine for a quick prototype, but not for real development. Fortunately, someone in the community built a mod that he copied from that wasn't quite as badly designed. (Or, rather, was a better implementation of his bad design)
He doesn't use sensible data structures. He's building a voxel 3D world, but using a 2D anisotropic data structure. As a result, if you want to change the height of the world, the RAM usage scales *LINEARLY* with max height, instead of with actual USED space. That is *TERRIBLE* design.
That's not even getting into the "game design" issues. I'll just say one thing there, "Endermen".
As for: "because you "know" how software development works and didn't manage to work on a project as successful as Minecraft?"
I've worked on several projects that have had more users *daily* than Minecraft has had *total*. So, no, not really. I'm just annoyed that people with no real understanding of software design & implementation keep leaping to defend a guy who's pretty good at building quick prototypes of interesting ideas, but does not have the experience or education to *lead* a complex project like this, let alone run the company at the same time.
Minecraft is fun.
Minecraft is *not* well designed, or implemented.
These are two *completely separate* things. We don't have to dislike the game to recognize that Notch is in fantastically over his head. It's not hate, it's not anger. It's frustration at seeing rather obvious design decisions flubbed due to inexperience and, frankly, hubris.
