Iwata tackles Virtual Console prices, Wii Connect24 [update 3]

Jun 2nd 2006 6:05PM (Joystiq)
DS demos excellent, Thank you. Hopefully we'll see Wii demos too.
I'd love to play some indie games and I have no problem paying $5 for them. The next Tetris is out there some where.

The summer gaming drought is upon us

May 31st 2006 1:49PM (Joystiq)
No drought for me, I'm buying a DS Lite and have a list of games I want to play. I usually play my handheld in the summer, I'm outside a lot more.

Anything instock in Canada Yet?
I just called Walmart and got the usual "What's a DS Lite, Nintendo's not making a new DS"

Sony expects gamers to "Play Beyond" $599 [update1]

May 23rd 2006 9:31AM (Joystiq)
"Well if Sony's done anything, it's split gamers into the haves and have-nots"

I agree with you Jeff that was my first thought when I heard the price was this is going to change the gaming industry. My fear is it won't be for the better. Console gaming has had it's foundation for being affordable. Changing this will have ramifications for the future.

Sony says base PS3 will be upgradeable

"Sure, it'd be nice to have it all in there in the first place, but we'll take what we can get."

No, I think I'll leave what their offering at the Sony store. $600 is too much for a console I want more gaming value in the console not a Blue Ray. How about two controllers, a game or at least the remote for the Blue Ray drive.

Charting the seven seas of video gaming [Update 1]

May 17th 2006 7:11PM (Joystiq)
Copa, Thank You.

I've been thinking the same thing all week. $600 is just to much for a burger (Console) I don't care what extra's it has because at it's core it is a gaming console not a value priced Blue Ray player.

I remember saving my every penny for my SNES when I was 13 it cost me $200 and came with two controllers, Super Mario World and all the wires needed to hook it up. Also the hardware was made with quality components that still work today. That's what I call value, not what's being offered by Sony.

Games shipping this week

May 15th 2006 3:12PM (Joystiq)
I ordered it on-line today it was $10 off at Best Buy in Canada and just got back from pre-ordering a DS Lite.

Now I'll just wait till June 11 to play it...

Microsoft befriends Nintendo in fight vs Sony

May 11th 2006 10:12PM (Joystiq)
I'm planing on doing that.

I bought my Gamecube first then my Xbox latter in this generation. Nintendo had the great fun games I loved but Xbox had the PC games I couldn't play on my Mac. Also I went with the Xbox because of the great racing games Nintendo didn't have Forza and Project Gotham racing. I also didn't have to buy memory cards for the Xbox and all the games released on the Xbox are availible in North America. I get sick of buying a console and reading the really good games for the system are in Japanes language , I'd have to import them and mod my console.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl, see it for yourself

"But we did snag a bunch of pretty - too pretty, if you ask us - screenshots off of the thing before we tossed it"

Too Pretty? What are you talking about? Here's a little quote from smashbros.com.

"We made a movie!
No explanation necessary. Just take a look at it!

...I don't suppose I've gone too far, have I?
Well, this is the kind of game it is. Sorry.

Please note that these game screens are still in development.
I want to polish them up more before it is complete."

You say they're too pretty, the director says they aren't polished yet!

Wii impressions: Super Mario Galaxy

May 10th 2006 6:33PM (Joystiq)
Wow that footage of Mario is stunning. The gameplay reminds me of playing Mario 64 for the first time and learning how to use the controller.
