Determining the future of Nintendo's Game Boy

Oct 24th 2006 4:10PM (Joystiq)
If the GameBoy line dies, it would be the result of Nintendo wanting it to die, not it failing or anything. GBA still holds it own in the USA. GameBoy is on a little break now, but I'm sure it can be brought back in full force if need be.

Sony lawsuits force Lik-Sang to close up shop [update 1]

Oct 24th 2006 1:27PM (Joystiq)
Ross,

You forget that this action affects the entire import market, not just Europeans wating on a PS3. Hell, I was planning on getting a couple DS accessories and games avaliable only in Japan soon enough, now I can through lik-sang. And possibly eventually nowhere else in the future since Sony probably will not stop with lik-sang.

Sony used SLAPP tactics in order to cause this. Suing in multiple countries at the same time to bleed the company for legal costs. Can't defend yourself and show up at the multiple locations, you lose possibly not only the case but also just about every penny you've earned. That is completely asinine right there and should be illegal.

Sony loses little to nothing in these resellings. There is no piracy going on whatsoever. I wonder if Sony will start suing eBay sellers shipping out of the USA now...

Catching up with Kaz and the PS3 [update 1]

Aug 19th 2006 4:34PM (Joystiq)
To 38:

Sure... it was from the Sony E3 Pre-show press conference. There were other memorable moments too. But, the joke is pretty much stale right about now anyway. It has been 3 months after all.

As for this interview, I sincerly hope Kaz just misspoke when he said 2 million units worldwide by the end of the year. I really hope so...

Ubisoft reveals seven Wii launch titles, including Far Cry [update 2]

Aug 3rd 2006 2:53PM (Joystiq)
@ Jeremy.

- Red Steel = New IP
- GT Pro Series = New IP(in the US)
- Rayman = Basically timed exclusive (buit for Wii, mind you)
- Far Cry Wii = much more than a mere port
- Blazing Angels = (port)
- Monster Trucks = (port of game nobody played)
- Open Season = (New, but licensed trash- also multiplatform, though)

Very good for just one developer at launch.

The IGN-Ubisoft interview should probably be posted as well to get some more information about these games. Great news, though.

Nintendo commits to next year's Min-E3

Aug 1st 2006 5:16PM (Joystiq)
No, Nintendo was also one of the ones to pull support from E3.

But good to see there will be at least something for next year. Hopefully we don't get canned, hand-picked demonstrations for games. People need to see how a game is really coming along. I'm sure that may annoy some developers to see their games criticized by a large audience, but as long as they listen to that criticism and implement fixes into the game, it would only help them once it becomes time to go gold.

Golden Sun creator parting ways with Nintendo [update 1]

Aug 1st 2006 4:27PM (Joystiq)
DSmeet.com is reporting on a shoddy translation. camelot has only announced a PC golf game. There was no mention of Nintendo anywhere in their comments. So, yeah, I'd hold out on that one before making any rash judgements.

That's uh... "intimate."

E3 killed! Reborn as "new E3Expo"

Jul 31st 2006 5:27PM (Joystiq)
Well, all of the big three(Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft) pulled support plus other major publishers(EA and THQ at least). Update over at Next-gen.biz.
