Because most people buy or have cellphones already. It's a device that everyone carries around, so why not also have it be the best, or at least a very good, GPS unit. This kind of takes away a big reason to buy a standalone GPS player. All mobile devices like this are converging in on the one device everyone owns. So you dont need an MP3 player, and a Camera, and a GPS, and a PMP, and a phone.

I can't wait til 3D content becomes more prevalent. I have a 67" 3D DLP and a pc gaming rig with NVIDIA's 3DVision and playing Left4Dead is so good that you have to experience it to really understand how much better it is. I think that will be the hardest part of getting people on board. So many people are writing this off as gimmicky and a waste of time and they haven't even tried it. Once you play some of these games in 3D you can't go back to playing it without it. It is THAT much better

I have a 67" 3D DLP with a pc gaming rig equipped with NVIDIA's 3DVision and when it works, it is without a doubt a huge step forward in the experience. If you've played Left 4 Dead in 3D you can never go back to playing it without it. It is that much better. Everyone I have shown has been blown away by the experience so I would have to say don't knock it til you've tried it.

You will need a new TV unless you already own a 3D ready DLP or Plasma television. As fas as things stand right now, not just ANY 120hz television will work with this tech. Although the 3D ready televisions currently on the market do use 120hz refresh rate for displaying the left and right fields, these televisions have a specific port on them that you plug an IR transmitter into. This is required to sync the active-shutter glasses with the refresh rate of the television. This is how active-shutter 3D works. At least Sony isn't pushing for a new proprietary format that would cause the current 3D televisions to become obsolete. I am assuming active-shutter 3D will become the new standard for getting 3D to consumers in Bluray and other media including console gaming.

Maybe it's just me but when I have my TV use the 120hz processing it just looks like everything is sped up too fast. I think it looks like complete garbage and really doesn't contribute at all to a better experience.

I have a Samsung DLP that is 3D ready and I use it with an NVIDIA 3D vision setup for PC games. Depending on the game the effect can be pretty amazing. Left4Dead right now is probably the best experience in 3D. You haven't played that game until you actually feel like you have a zombie running at you in 3D and then you blow off his head and see the smoke billowing out of your gun floating in front of you

Those are polarized glasses. NVIDIA's 3D Vision and any 3D ready DLP uses active-shutter. Movie theaters just place a filter in front of the camera to get the polarization whereas active shutter glasses have led lenses that will turn on and off in sync with the refresh rate of the television. 120hz will be split into 60hz, or 60 FPS for each eye. Your glasses jacked from the theater will do nothing unfortunately. But I have heard whispers that Sony will try to be pushing new 3D televisions that somehow allow for polarized 3D on consumer TVs, but you'll have to buy a new set.
