Nielsen study: People don't like 3D glasses

Sep 10th 2010 3:19PM (Joystiq)
@Jason B

That's surprising since pretty much everyone I've ever talked to has 0 problems with their active shutter glasses fitting comfortably over prescription glasses. I've actually tried 3 different pairs of ASGs (Xpand 102s, Panasonic, and Mitsubishi's) and had no problem with any of them over my corrective specs. The glasses used in the movie theaters are a different story though.

I too have prescription specs, and I use xpand x102s and they fit fine (and comfortably) over my glasses. I've used Mitsubishi, Samsung, and Panasonic glasses as well, and thought they fit fine.

DLPs are flat screens, they are not flat panels however.

And I'm sorry that your home has a 5'x5' living room, because that's the only way a DLP would take up half of it.

A $100 adapter is expensive? (Or in Samsung's case) a $100 adapter and $115ish gefen is expensive? Considering you already have the TV, the upgrade to 3D isn't that expensive.

There are also blu-ray players that output checkerboard (if you didn't want to buy an adapter).

My bad thought you said $999. Well you're exactly at the price you wanted.

I don't know why you would consider playing Uncharted 2 in 3D if you didn't even play it in HD. Regardless, assuming the resolution (and frame rate) could remain the same, it would undoubtedly be better in 3D.

3D Blu-ray PS3 update dated for September, YouTube 3D support planned

"I'll wait for 3D TV prices to drop, the prices seem kind of arbitrarily inflated because it's new to market. "

The MSRPs are actually pretty much in line with the top of the line TVs from the 2009 model year. These are just getting a lot more attention is all, so people think they are inflated.

Coraline and Ice Age 3 are currently Panasonic exclusives (much like Monsters vs Aliens).

To the person who first replied to me, every movie I listed has a blu-ray 3D disk. I think you need to do some better research before trying to cite inaccuracies in my post.

I can't see why anyone who owns a PS3 would complain about the addition of 3D Blu-ray play back. Even if you don't plan on using it anytime soon, having the option in the future is always nice.

I can see why people complain when they take away OtherOS, but adding features/options is pretty much always good.
