The success stories may be less, but MS has a similar program for the Xbox 360 with the Indie games service.

Membership costs are about the same, as is cuts for each piece of software sold. The main difference is that games on the Xbox 360 are reviewed by fellow developers instead of Microsoft, which means that games are released more quickly. So there are other options.

Its a bit of a shame that I have one from two days after the launch in the UK (got it 16th March 2001) and it's still working. Where as i've gone through two xboxes since launch (i know, only 2?!?)

PSN did not start in 2006. The PS2 had games that ran on the PS Network, it just wasn't set up like XBL v3 (aka Xbox 1 service) with added store until the PS3 launched. However, people have been able to sign up to the service since the PS2.

If your wanting to compare Xbox Live to the PSN of 2006, then the Xbox Live service that comes close is the one that launched with the Xbox 360 in 2005.

But in relation to the article, this isn't a surprise with the pay-for service of the Xbox. Sony only makes money really from Home and store with content and advertising deals (which MS make also)

I am a recent 16GB UK Zune owner, and i'm so glad I bought one. My girlfriends has a 16GB Nano, and I think the Zune offers so much more compared to Apples standard MP3 players. I am loving the XNA support, the look and feel of the software/hardware and the wifi syncing. I think, from what i've seen, MS are on the right track. They need to do something that apple seems to have forgotten about. MS need to make the Zune all about the music.
I say this, because I am loving the mixview options in their software, along with the interactive "Now Playing" feature. I find it really cool how it pulls play counts and bios about the artist currently playing. This is what they should be plugging. When I buy an MP3 player, i'm buying something that plays music. I don't really care about surfing the internet and what not as I have a laptop to do that.
I also think they should integrate the Zune store onto the 360. Think about it, you plug in your Zune into the 360 and an extra channel appears called "Zune Marketplace", and this allows you to buy tracks and automatically sync it up to your Zune. Would be so cool.

Anyway, i've rambled on for to long. Zune is best for music.

I'm surprised they didn't release a UK version with Noel Edmonds. Now that man is creepy.

They've done this twice. Their competition is called Dream, Build, Play where the top 3 games get money and launched on XBLA I think. Good to see Sony doing the same. Only good things can come from this for all us gamers

I think this content should have the same price as the Mass Effect DLC (i.e. 400MSP). That DLC was a day one purchase for me as it added 1hr and 1/2 for not a lot of money. I'll buy this as long as it adds 3hrs worth of content

As this is a MS product, i suspect that it won't require a dongle

What a surprise, another competition only for the US. How come other regions never get as many competitions as the US does, and when we do they're usually crap
