Mmmm... Xbox Live tastes soooo goood!

I can't see any proof of Xvid support on the Xbox Team page (http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/archive/2007/11/30/december-2007-system-update.aspx).

I must say you are totally wrong.

Having two formats have made the prices go down. The format war is the best thing that has happened the market and the customers. Just look at when the DVD format entered the market. I remember bying one of the first DVD players and they were quite expensive, and kept on being so for years. It took a long time for DVD to get established on the market. Thanks to the price cuts people will enjoy HD DVD/Blu-ray way faster than with DVD (imo). People being confused about two formats is temporary. And in the end, I believe combo players will win the market, i.e. making no format a winner.

Thinking about Joshua Zyber's column (www.highdefdigest.com), HD will be a niche market for a long time. Therefore reluctant buyers wont be a major problem for a while; for us who though want to be there from the beginning, it is great.

There is no difference for you if you are watching something 1080i or 1080p. You get the exact same picture on your HDTV. Since the original material on the disc is 1080p/24, and a flatscreen only can show progressive, the end result is the same. 1080i becomes 1080p but half the frames (i.e. 30) but since the movie is 24, it does not become better if you'd have it 1080p/60.

Well, considering that most games made for PS3 runs att 720p I don't really see that your argument has any point. And how come many games (Madden Football for example) runs at same resolution across the platforms but lesser framerate? Duh!

Both the 360 and PS3 make excellent upscaling to 1080p though.

This show how blu Engadget HD is once again. Simple: You have two lists. One, what is produced now. Two, what is available (including imports, etc.).
