More details on new Dino from Ferrari

Oct 7th 2006 2:29AM (Autoblog)
Power, weight, accelleration- all irrelevant.

Ferraris are more symbols than they are cars, and with the possible exception of the Enzo, they've been surpassed in every way except nebulous terms like "style" "soul" and "history". Yet people lap them up, and gladly pay huge amounts to just keep them running. They've even got people convinced that that their horrid reliability is a positive thing. Part of the charm.

Building an affordable Ferrari would be directly antithetical to the carefully crafted (and utterly asinine) dream that sells Ferraris. It's like asking why Rolls Royce doesn't build a stripped down sportscar. Astoundingly stupid.

There's a reason this was posted here, and it ain't cuz EGM is a super-duper neato magazine. Try to be a little less transparent, Joystiq.

AC Cobra returns to kill replicas in the U.S.

May 17th 2006 2:07PM (Autoblog)
At $94,000, not replicas are going to be 'killed' I don't think this will be much better than Superperformance or factory Five's offerings, and it will cost a hell of a lot more.

Detour from the Duomo to that Ferrari store

I don't know what the Milano store is like, but the one in rome was not exactly impressive. One f1 car, a bunch of looping plasma screens and endless shelves of acer laptops, laughably overpriced F-branded "accessories", a few remote control cars and some t-shirts. "Car enthusiasts paradise"? HAHAHA, please. More like a shiny things/useless crap enthusiasts paradise.

It's borderline unethical, in my opinion, as the retailer was most likely told what price to sell at in exchange for a guaranteed supply. If MRSP isn't enforced in situations like this, why bother having one at all? More importantly why let your retailers make all the money? If the manufacturer knows that demand for his product is going to outstrip supply, he should be charging more initially, rather than standing in the boardroom yelling "they love me! They love me!", especially if they're selling the friggin' things at a loss.

Looks awfully thick. And honestly, who cares about a 6gb HDD player? All the drawbacks(fragility), none of the advantages(capacity) of HDD are in this player. Lame.

New York State to ban brush guards?

"The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has also researched and found that these bars also lessen the damaged done to both vehicles, by pushing the second car away like a snowplow. "

Are you kidding me? If this were true, why don't all cars have them? Why bother with crumple zones, plastic bumpers, any of that if the manufacturer could just make the bumper an integral part of the frame?

What a hilariously stupid comment.
