Rumor: Alan Wake 2 in production (for the next Xbox)

Oct 7th 2011 11:38AM (Joystiq)
@FlashJS What about people that buy an Xbox 360 in 2012? Do you expect MS to halt sales because a new console is coming out? The fact is that even after the 720 launches, the 360 will continue to sell and for good reason, anyone jumping in to 360 at this point will have an inmense library of games to choose from, not to mention a great bargain price and proven reliability with the Slim. People are still buying PS2's today despite the PS3 launching 5 years ago, it shouldn't be a problem as long as there's continued support.

Rumor: Alan Wake 2 in production (for the next Xbox)

@BoBsS That may have been the case a few years ago when Killzone 2 was the first console game to use deferred rendering, but now that we have Crysis and Battefield 3 using it, we can't really say the PS3 is outperforming the 360 because there's nothing else out there that looks better on consoles and the 360 is running them just fine if not better than PS3 (At least Crysis is). Also with the first reviews of Forza 4, GT5 has been officially dethroned and the new console graphics to beat is on 360. I think people have overestimated the power of the PS3 and underestimated the 360, the truth is somewhere in between.

Engadget's Netflix HD streaming shootout

Tony, I had a similar setup using Vista Media Center extender for Netflix and let me tell you, the difference of streaming via Xbox 360 is dramatic, even when streamin non hd content, so not only do you get access to HD content after activating the device on your Netflix account, but watching standard movies look on par with DVD just as the article states which is a huge difference form the VHS quality that I was getting while streaming to my PC for some reason, maybe Netflix reserves bandwidth for those using set top boxes.

The problem with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind not streaming in HD on your Xbox is not due to the connection or your Xbox 360. When you activate your account to stream to your Xbox 360, there is a new tab under "Genre" that lists movies available in HD. Eternal Sunshine is NOT on that list therefore will not stream in HD on Xbox 360. Go to Genre, click on HD and any of the movies on that list are guaranteed to stream in HD. Some movies might be available on other players that are not available to stream in HD on Xbox and viceversa, you should look into this ;)

10 reasons the PlayStation 3 is relevant again

The simple need of having to post something like this indicates that there is a problem with Sony's camp, otherwise the system would be doing the talking and not this article :p

Is Gears of War as good as it gets?

"What are you talking about? One of the first demos on the PS3 was of the Unreal 3 engine. Stick to the facts."

DBX00, sure UE3 was running on a PS3 dev kit, but the engine had to modified to work with OpenGL and that took a performance hit, because at heart, UE3 is a DirectX based engine, it was built from the ground up on DirectX and we all know that DirectX based engines (ie. Half-Life 2) run better on ATI GPUs.
Mark Rein himself speaks of UE3 performing poorly on the PS3, developers want to know if they'll ever get it to run as fast as it does on the 360.
Mark Rein: "We have a couple of worried customers" regarding the PlayStation 3 and UE3, who are asking: "How are we going to get it to perform as well as the Xbox 360"?

IGN says PS3 aces 360 in Virtua Tennis

Aug 29th 2006 8:12PM (Joystiq)
Is everyone aware that the PS3 version is being developed by the legendary AM2? Xbox 360 version is being developed by Sumo Digital, know for making PSP games.

This is a terrible benchmark of system performance since we're dealing with different talent, we might as well use Need for Speed: Hot persuit 2 as a benchmark for PS2/GCN/Xbox, the team that handled the PS2 version beat out both, so does this meant the PS2 was the most powerful last gen? No, the team behind the PS2 version did a better job, thats all.

I'm not saying Xbox 360 is more powerful, but the difference between the 2 is very minimal, smaller than PS2 vs Xbox or even Xbox/GCN and a game developed by totally different houses, the one with the better resources (AM2) will win, its a no brainer.
