I think it's great that Joystiq supplies this list, but I wish they would put up another post in a few days that allows people to put their first gameplay impressions if they picked these up. I feel like there are few sites on the Net that allow this type of communication. And with Gamespot and IGN taking forever to post reviews, you are stuck goin on to boards filled with fanboys giving distorted perceptions. Would anyone else want to see something like this? (I would because I want to know if Transformers is worth it at all.)
That was a fantastic column by a Wheaton that could have been written by many of us. I am just a year older than Will and some of my best childhood memories were hanging out in various laundromats, convenience stores and arcades playing new games that came out.
My favorite arcade gave you a $5 deal where you got a coke, chips, a roast beef sub and four tokens. Add another dollar in and you had a full afternoon of fun. Not to mention the crowds that people would draw if they really rocked at a certain game. You didn't even have to spend your own money to have fun...just lean over someone's shoulder to see how it was done.
I love my consoles, but how much fun you could wring out of a single quarter was a real test of skill when you compare it to some of the gaming today.
I don't know if it's a good or bad thing that most gamers have no idea what a line of quarters on the top of an arcade machine signify.
So what do the people who played it on the X-Box get? The people who figured out that you could basically solve the whole game with the basic punch and kick attack that meant all the upgrades were basically worthless?
#4 Even if it is a fake, what if it is true? If we sit back and do nothing the druids win. I saw we go in and nerf them with what little evidence we have here and worry about the consequences later. It may take several years to sort this problem out and we don't need any naysayers getting in our way. If you really love World of Warcraft then you have to agree with what I'm saying.
"I can speak about it generally -- we have single franchise teams that are approaching each of these businesses. And when we look at the PS3 and the 360, the development of those two platforms is more alike and has more asset sharing than when you look your current genre or the Wii, for example. Just given the architecture, the systems, the multiple processors, the high definition graphics etcetera. So we do see that that will continue in the future where there will continue to be 360, PS3 development being mostly the same. We will do some things on one versus the other to optimize and to make them better, but on the Wii and the current-gen stuff that still continues to be a different type of development."
How do you get optimistic about the PS3 reading this? It simply means they have development team for the two systems and so both systems are going to get the lowest common denominator as far as quality. This means your $600 PS3 is going to get an incrementally better game.
Also, if you read deeply in the report you find that the tie ratiofor the PS3 is poor so far. This means people are buying the system with few to no games attached.
So this isn't something pessimistic or optimistic for the PS3. It's exactly what we expected from EA---every game they release will be multi-platform as it's been for as long as we can remember.
So does this mean that EA has PS3's back by ensuring crappy ports for all the major systems that are comprised of the lowest common denominator of graphical quality?
I think the people who must like this ad are the people who think the endings of both Shrek movies are awesome when Donkey sings. Perhaps the singing rats at the end are bringing back some kind of nostalgia for you.

Honestly, if this commercial made you feel tingly inside then you need to get out more or read a novel or see a real movie.
I felt like I was watching a pitch for a game made by Jack Thompson.
"And instead of killing people, he gives them a Coke...you earn love instead of money in the game!"
