My gaming room smells like...umm whatever candle is in the room at the time. Yeah, that's it. Cause the other answer you just don't want; trust me.

Own car? Yes. Drive it? Every day.

Why I want a virtual one? Cheaper on gas.

Joyswag: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Collector's Edition

How much have I played WOW, over the years? Honestly? Probably weeks' worth of time, by account of sheer hours.

Ridiculous? Perhaps to some it may seem so. But one of the cheapest forms of entertainment I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying.

DICE: Medal of Honor Taliban controversy affected reviews

Nov 5th 2010 4:49PM (Joystiq)
One additional point, in regards to multiplayer I wanted to mention:
DICE has essentially become the Cryptic Studios (Star Trek Online, Champions Online, etc) of FPS multiplayer games: cookie cutter design that is a simple copy/paste of their first multiplayer title, with new skins and sounds. Meaning that if you played ANY of the previous dozen online Battlefield series of titles, then you've already played MoH online.

It is absolutely shameful with what EA did to this title, especially as a reload. It is a Medal of Dishonor to gamers, more than anything else. Let's face it, when a game gives you an award for just playing online for a few hours, something is wrong.

DICE: Medal of Honor Taliban controversy affected reviews

The game has a lot of other issues stopping it from being a CoD selling success, as well. Mainly the pay-to-play online model EA is pushing with the title; hence why I only ever see 10-15k online (Xbox) in evening US ET hours, compared to hundreds of thousands for CoD: MW2. This model hurts the title substantially in the rental arena, where players will just toss the game back without every touching multi-player portion. And, honestly, to pay $50-60 for just the single-player campaign of a whole 6 hours is an absolute waste of money.

Furthermore, the online game play is still plagued with problems. Most large maps are a sniper fest and the smaller ones are camp fests. ALL maps suffer from spawn point camping/bombing, which in the end, is nothing more than poor/rushed coding.

This game represents a "could-have-been". Not because of Taliban but because of EA. The title will shortly fade into the shadows, once CoD is released. Its a shame too, because a lot of research work into the game; they just couldn't execute.

Kinect vs. our living rooms: A survey

Nov 5th 2010 10:42AM (Joystiq)
After moving my absolutely heavy-as-all-hell large coffee table, we had exactly 8ft from the couch to the TV.

An important note to make, which I did not see mentioned, is this: Make sure you have 4-6ft or so to your right AND left -- this means side room space so that you can move. Don't expect to be able to get good results if you cannot make the space.

One tip, at least for us, is putting the Kinect sensor on top of the TV is a huge help. If at all possible, place it on top of your TV -- for some reason it was more receptive to room lighting, had a wider view angle of our 'play space', and recognized each of us rather quickly.

If you have a TV wall mounted, you can still place Kinect on top of it -- we did and it works perfectly (without the special $40 TV mount). As long as you have about 1.5-2 inches along the top of your TV to lay the rubberized bottom of the Kinect device onto, you're good to go.

All-in-all, the results from Kinect will pretty much come to down to two things and two things only: 'play space' and 'room lighting'. Not enough of either one will spell frustration for the person who just shelled out $150 for a 'Number Five is alive' look-a-like paperweight. However, if you have the space and the lighting, the technology is fun and the games (Adventures, at least) get you moving and working up some heart beats.

Gears of War 3 producer wants Carmine dead

I think that this is just a cheap way to earn additional revenue through the shirt sales (real & virtual).

If they really wanted complete community feedback, they would have simply placed a poll on their website. Instead, they pull a gimmick which requires people to pay-for-a-vote.

No thanks. And honest, who cares if the next one lives or dies? If they do or don't its not like it is going to change my enjoyment of the game. I don't exactly play GoW series for the characters' personalities; I play to shoot and blow up strange beings who like to kill humans.

Bungie: We had to break through Infinity Ward 'noise' for Activision news

Apr 30th 2010 10:05AM (Joystiq)
So you guys are joining the Activision zombie army after all of this bad press has come out on how they really treat their development studios? Wow, things must be bad for the single IP development company...
