OK, so I'll be the first to actually attack Disney.

Stuff like this is only doable because the films are made primarily for children. Discerning adults would definitely notice if scripts, action sequences or plotlines were this blatantly copied, at least without being given the proper credit (i.e., sequels and remakes).

The kid in me feels somewhat robbed, now knowing that some of the best creative minds in the industry were anything but. Of course, I completely understand why things like this would have been done, considering time, money and resources, but if it's as acceptable as you all make it out to be, let's see some modern-day examples.

And don't give me the "land of no new ideas" spiel. Truthfully, EVERYTHING has been done before in some capacity; this is a step above that. This is straight-up cloning...

No, because you doing those things doesn't 'really' cost anyone any money. Unless you count your reward as NOT going to jail... I just think it's interesting how, when money is supposedly being lost, corporations will begin worrying.

Don't get me wrong, I don't illegally download and think it should be punished more severly (and accurately), but you don't see the government offering tax credits to people who go a decade without a criminal record...

I hope this one is nothing like 'The Terminal' because that would be odd for these two. Maybe I'll go check out Thumbsucker to get an idea.

Johnston has had an eclectic career to say the least, but I think you are absolutely right about The Rocketeer being the film that matters.

I saw parts of The Wolf Man at Comic-Con 08 and it looked pretty amazing--although that could have been entirely due to Benicio del Toro's performance--so you're also right that the casting makes all the difference.

I actually wasn't keen on JPIII but then who can really compare to Spielberg? I guess we will just have to wait and see what Johnston makes of this...

Having played a bit of both; in the future I would love to see some more creatively fresh independent titles. However, if we don't get Power Stone 1 & 2 on XBLA soon I'm gonna Dreamcast myself to death (yes, I still have one). I can't wait for those to come out, so I can't say that I don't want to see corporate games out there as well.
