Strange, I remember it differently but maybe it was all the damn Bright Wizards killing us through floors :) As for WoW I played at launch for 3 months or so on Elune and destro was seriously outnumbered in a big way.
They really are. From what I've seen it looks like a worthy purchase but I'm going to play through the hd collection first and see if a price drop hits this one in the meantime.
After a while, all but the most ardent detractors go on their merry way. I'm not sure you can count their complete disregard as a victory for the game just as much as they can't cite decreased server loads and xfire numbers as a sign of its' failure. Personally it's the only mmo I've regretted purchasing but I'm happy for the current players as EA isn't exactly known for funding sinking ships.
If the transfers won't be available until late April, why did they open the new servers now? Just to piss off the early adopters who supported your game even though you didn't really welcome them? Who's making the decisions over there?
It's a real shame if people feel like they have to back one game at the expense of all others. As someone who loves the genre I'm happy to see any innovations as they benefit future games; WAR PQ's made it to CO and Rift, Rift AOE looting made it to SWTOR, and so on. If GW2 can bring us standard mmo features and innovation without a sub then current and future sub-based games are really going to have to go above and beyond in order to justify said subscription. How can that not benefit all of us as gamers? A lot of these companies need a wakeup call and I hope GW2 brings it.
I'm really not one to subscribe to conspiracy theories and such but I really do look critically at the negative comments about GW2. From everything I've seen so far the early reports are nothing but positive yet I'm seeing a lot of negative comments from people that haven't even played the game. I understand people get invested in their game of choice at the expense of other ones but there are a lot of companies out there that stand to lose bigtime if GW2 is a success. I'm probably just being paranoid but it does make me wonder.
