New MechWarrior teased by IGN site [update]

Jul 7th 2009 5:00PM (Joystiq)
I can't make those out clearly, even in HD. But the closest thing in terms of shape, and that line in the middle would be House Davion, and they've been the "hero" faction since the beginning of the Clan War, so it doesn't say a whole lot if it's true.

New MechWarrior teased by IGN site [update]

If this isn't a bullshit "Mechassault" version, and actually is a full-on legitimate MechWarrior game, I know 5 people in my area that are buying it, if it's on any platform other than the Wii.

Frozenbyte responds: 'XBLA version of Trine is a possibility'

Jul 1st 2009 2:32PM (Joystiq)
I dunno, I'm guessing this actually is what's going on.

Atlus can't respond because MS will just put the smack down on 'em. Frozenbyte doesn't know any better, 'cuz they're in Europe and have never worked on an XBLA game, so they're obviously just going to state what's up. (And like Nintendo & Sony of Europe, I've noticed that the European companies seem to be a bit more forthcoming with information...much to the chagrin of their US counterparts.)

Microsoft would have to be pretty petty to reject a title that was getting lots of positive press at E3, though.

Interview: Alexandre Parizeau talks Splinter Cell: Conviction, evolving characters and stealth

Funny how he doesn't mention AI.

Because they didn't put any in the game.

"Hey, the window behind me just got shot out and a guy got pulled out of it. It's probably just some kind of ruse. I'm certain the one person I'm looking for is in the opposite direction. I'll just leave my back to the window."

Also cringe-worthy? The 10 guys that bust in from out of nowhere after he gets his man. They weren't there to help earlier, they were all just hiding off-camera. It's 2009. Can we dispense with the C-movie grade suspension of disbelief we have to view our games with?

Are you listening, BBC? Telltale wants to make Doctor Who games

Jun 8th 2009 2:18PM (Joystiq)
Please do not let this happen. Turning a TV show into a straight up adventure game is what CSI does. This is friggin' Dr. Who, you can come up with something FAR more interesting that plugging it into a Telltale game creation engine.

Nevermind, now I see it's a video. Way to go, me.

Uh...where's the link to the dev diary? There's no "Source" link.

Report: The Last Remnant sold better in the West, poorly in general

May 20th 2009 6:45PM (Joystiq)
Scratch: Yeah, your point stands. I just had to make my own.

Mr. Khan: No, I don't have to come up with a better solution. Because I could literally roll a series of d10s and be just as accurate as VGChartz. Roll a series of d10s, post numbers, wait for NPD numbers, adjust my own numbers, never admit wrongdoing.

Why reward institutionalized self-wankery? They don't have numbers. They claim to provide numbers. If they cannot possibly have what they clain to have, what reason is there for them to exist? It's stupidity in the extreme that they're even viewed as a source for ANYTHING.

It would be sound logic, if it were based on actual numbers and not leet intarweb estimation technomagick.

Any calculation using VGImaginaryChartz numbers can be summed up with this old computer science axiom:

"Garbage in, Garbage out".

Metareview - Bionic Commando (Xbox 360/PS3)

Did I say they needed Western influence? Did I say one was better than the other? Maybe you should stop being a jump-to-conclusions-jackass.

Nobody's exempting Western designers from being stuck in neutral, either. If every would just freaking share talent and compare notes, we'd have a much better finished product from all sides.

However, I've never heard an American, European, developer, etc. as being officially hesitant to hire a foreign producer. But Japan's totally against the practice. It's 2009 and Ben's the FIRST. Let that sink in. It's not a shock when a Japanese producer's at the helm of a US company's game. There's been one foreign producer at the helm of a major Japanese game company's game ever.

Maybe that's why I only mentioned Japan. Learn 2 Reading Comprehension.
