The point you're missing is to say its gold and have the game out in 2 weeks means they should be confident that the game will be smooth for people within that amount of time.

For their patcher to not even work...well thats a sign of bad things to come because you aren't even in the game yet. Running into poor programming that early shows what kind of quality checks are going on at Cryptic.

Sorry Incognito Guy, your research on Aion isn't entirely accurate. That channel system only exists until level 20 or so, while the beginning areas are densely populated. For the PvPvE content and beyond, the channel system ceases to exist. Smart imo.

It should worry you that you don't get to play the game before deciding if you want a lifetime sub.

If a lifetime sub is purchased and the game shuts down after a year? no good.

Why is it being paired with beta access to STO? It seems like a ploy for a quick influx of money.

Indeed a ploy to get a quick infusion of cash. Then they can pour all of it into STO and make that a good game while people play the bad game they have a lifetime subscription to and watch it crumble.
